Now I'm REALLY annoyed that I don't feel like spamming up the place with facepalm pictures. Google Steve Ballmer, don't even click on the Wikifail link, but just look at the flavor text that comes with the result.
Micro$uck. :)
Indeed, burn in hell, Steve!!! <_<
Well the retards finally fixed their mistake, and we're now returning to our status as members of the Evil Empire in Good Standing. But all that stuff about Ballmer in the OP is still true. I hope they replace him soon.
So, maybe I'll buy that X-Box after all.
 Your wife got un-laid off?

There was an interesting link from Fake Steve Jobs the other day, showing MS's share price since Ballmer took over, and Apple's stock price since Jobs came back. Guess which one has had a meteoric rise, and which has actually declined over the last 10 years, despite the enormous bull market going on.
Yes. They actually never intended to lay her off to begin with. She was in a position was going to be restructured (merged with her Ireland counterpart) and she was managing that process. The plan was to move her to a different job once that was completed. Then the layoff order came down and they caught her because she was in a position that was scheduled to be removed anyway. Once they figured out what happened (retards) she started getting calls of apology from bigwigs and such. They've basically been looking for a reason to get her back for a while. They finally succeeded.

Yep. The guy's poison. It's basically an old boys' club at the top now.

Oddly enough I didn't think of this joke at the time that I posted.
My mom got laid off twice from the same company, as her departments kept getting cut or outsourced. She's going for a hat-trick now.
Speaking of Microsoft, our SAN has been down literally all day and Microsoft has been unsuccessfully trying to help our infrastructure dudes diagnose and correct the problem. Last I heard, MS had no idea what the problem even was.

It'd be cool if the value of your severance packages kept multiplying each time you got laid off from the same company :D

MSFT's iSCSI initiator driver is fuxx0rred in win server 2003. That's the most common thing. It's much better in 2008 though.

In our case, there was a clause that said you had to pay it back if you got hired back during the amount of severance time you were paid. She got hired back just after that period expired though.

We have 2008.

That's better than having a few Sunfire x4500's and trying to figure out ZFS and an AC in the server room that maintains things at a pleasant 78 degrees, 56% humidity.

You're such a tech nerd to think that should be common knowledge.

Sadly, yes. I just found out last night that S used me as an "opinion leader" for a paper in her marketing class because of how nerdy I am.
