Wherein we discuss the HBO tv show without venturing into future predictions based on the reading of the series of books. This is an as-it-happens only thread.
No SPOILERS are permitted. Discussion on episodes aired is allowed as they happen, though, without consideration to time zones, TIVOs, etc.
You should probably have the threads marked (Spoilers) and (No Spoilers) in the titles, as for long-running threads like this people are apt to forget.
Well, I can't change the heading. I modified my post to reflect that.
Since all of us, with few exceptions, have read all the books, it is going to be hard to make predictions only based on the series. You might as well say "people who read the books stay out".
People who've read the books are welcome to discuss the episodes. I'm not exclusivist. I've actually read two-and-a-half books.
Based on what I have seen so far I predict there will be a great many characters dying in the near future. :P
I predict there will be some sort of conflict stemming from events in the first book season.
I think they will move the marriage of Littlefinger to Sansa to this season, even though it happened in book 5. It just makes more sense for it to happen at this point in the story, because it means more time (and thus more believability) between his marriage and his betrayal of the Eyrie to Dani's forces.
I think I've misunderstood something.

I was thinking "wtf...." for a second there then I realised the thread and it clicked.
But yes. Agreed. The revelation that Tyrion is Jon Snow`s half brother will also come in series 2 rather than 3. Probally.
Minor spoiler- The Starks, Lannisters, Tyrells, etc. are the real Others.
I noticed the first season is available for preorder on bluray.
Oh you guys...barrel of laughs. My bad. I should have known better. :D
It helps if you don't remember any character names. Then none of the spoilers make sense and nothing really gets spoiled

Oops. Spoiler.
It only starts in April. We're like, a month and a half in advance.

Its never too early to try to guess what will happen in the second season.

Whos gonna enforce this?
You and what army?
I bought the soundtrack album and started listening to the main theme... and fuck, for having a very simple melodic motif, that piece is so stirring.
I can't wait for season 2.
My friend's prediction for season 2: Danerys returns with her dragons, and the others come south across the wall.

Same. The first series was really good.
looking forward to the brienne, davos and stannis portrayals :)
looking forward to sexposition scenes in the tents of Highgarden.

I'm thinking Davos will be the man of the season like Ned was the man of last season. ACOK is more Davos' story than anybody else's.
I can't wait for OtakuAssembles "They Killed Mah Nigga Davos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owf6D2vfZqM)!!!" as the green flame envelopes his ship. Well, either that or They Killed His Nigga Tyrion.
I remember it as Tyrion's story.
Yeah, Tyrions.
The book was Tyrion's certainly but I do believe that the TV show may put more of a focus on Davos.

I agree, Davos is more like Ned and he is the guy you are hoping to succed, not because Stannis is a paragon of virtue but because Davos is.
Tyrion's story will basicaly be the same only this time Cersei is trying to get him killed rather than Catelyn.
The trailer seems to feature both Davos and Tyrion as central to its narrative so you could both be right.
Tyrion is the star of the show and the book. It would be a shame if they changed direction. Davos is an interesting side character.
Oh I'm sure of that. But I can also see how Ned being the first season's "good guy", Davos is going to be that in the second season.
Tyrion is GRRM's Mary Sue and on the show it stays that way since Dinklage is an awesome actor.

When I heard that they were casting Dinklage as Tyrion that was the moment that I knew this would happen and it would be awesome.

I wish you would learn what words meant.

We get it. You teach children.
Right.
So....good season so far. Enjoying it. Except for all that homo stuff.
The spoiler free GoT thread!
Necromanced.
In the 4th season, I wonder how they're going to handle Tyrion being revealed as a secret Targaryan and marrying Daenerys. How do you explain that only he's small enough to ride the juvenile dragons to Westeros without it coming off as a joke? I'm also looking forward to more hints that Varys is working with the White Walkers.

That's so fifth season. Next season will be the big wedding between Danaerys and Jaime Lannister.
Guys, stop ruining the plot twists for the non-readers.
see what I mean.
