Arpaio: racidistic? :(
Talking about Sharpton's "colorful" antics, and about bringing his "circus" to town? Why not call for slavery while he's at it?
On the one hand, it's nice when Sharpton is being told off. On the other hand, it's a shame when the other person is Joe Arpaio. By most accounts the guy is an egomaniac thug in uniform leading a police force full of thugs in uniforms.

Most accounts?
Really?
I don't think that you can really say there is a problem just because Maricopa County has paid out tens of millions of dollars in settlements to people (or their families) severely injured or killed in multiple different incidents while in his custody.
I really didn't think the letter was pwnage. It actually seemed fairly petty, and quite obviously intended for media consumption. The guy is in law enforcement - he's supposed to be above the political fray.

I thought Sheriff was a politically appointed office.

Sheriff is usually a directly elected office.
The sheriff's near?

So he DOES have reason to get political. Thought so.

Oh man, you really don't know much about this guy, do you?
He is all politics - as he must be, since he sure as hell isn't surviving on his laudible law enforcment record.
He is pretty much the poster child for repulsive populist hate mongering.

Fuck you, liberal.
I thought it was PWNAGE in that you usually don't see Sharpton get told off because of the obvious reaction you'll get from his organization (i.e. "such and such is racist and their product/cause/etc. will be boycotted").

This guy is elected, hence the letter.

I'm aware that he is elected, but that doesn't change the basic nature of the job.

Go read his wiki article. it gives a general overview of his "qualities".
What really bugs me about the guy is that he keeps getting re-elected by wide margins. It damages my faith in humanity.
Ah, ok, now I know what's going on, who the characters are. At first I didn't recognize who the sheriff was.
As far as I know, he's know for putting felons in tents when the prisons are out of space, or just to do so. Enforces immigration laws, to the nth degree. As for getting into problems, as Berkut says, I think there's been a enough of that too by the sheriff.
Its certainly going to be a circus. Both Sharpton and Arpaio are clowns.
Any western duly elected official who gets flak from Amnesty HAS to be a great guy, reading up on his Wiki page only confirms my expectations.
Jesus, this guy's ridiculous. He's cost the county $43 million in court settlements.

All the more reason to get rid of liberal trial lawyers. :contract:

You've just described Arpaio to a T.
