Which one of you crazy people are going to dare to go out?
Best Buy has some monster laptop deals starting at midnight.
Sorry, I'm not black.

Tell Raz of the monster deals.
Are they selling actual monsters? I'd like to buy a Little Laff. (https://languish.org/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com%2F_z1utYiY8aOo%2FR354MoxHNPI%2FAAAAAAAAAAw%2F6B67HUHknQ4%2FS220%2FLittleLaff.jpg&hash=e3d8011c1fbf582d271f9eca06b440dab49802fe)
I predict: three stomping deaths this year. Gotta catch that deal!
I might go to the Apple store....
There's a 51'' Samsung Plasma TV for 498$ about everywhere around here. I wonder if it's any good.
Since the stores will stock two of those and about 50 of the $788 plasma screens I wouldn't worry about the quality of that particular model.
Sadly. :(
I might wander out to the stores open today, just to walk off the food.

I'll take that over-under.
I say, one death by trampling, and two parking lot-related homicides ( one GSW, one blunt force trauma).
I'm not planning on shopping on Black Friday.

That's OK, funeral homes have a Black Friday special.
I conducted a lightning strike on 2 Meijers stores this morning securing 2 iPad 2's with 160 bucks of instore credit. Many nerds in electronics fell to my shopping cart blitzkrieg.

Göring used to live on the same street as I grew up on. :)
I'm hitting a Staples at 5am, and my Dad is hitting another. Our combined forces in a concerted coordinated strike should net a decent PC.
The mob was truly underwhelming this AM. Walked away with a decent i5 HP for my surfing and home computing, which will run side-by-side next to my dedicated gaming rig I'm building.
Great thing about these Black Friday deals with consumer electronics is the savings winds up eliminating the mark-up, so in the end you're paying for what you're actually getting. A prefab HP tower shouldn't be more than $399 anyway.
I'm delighted to report Black Friday has hit the UK this year, albeit in a minor way and somewhat blurring the lines with Cyber Monday. I may just order myself a new iPod to replace my one with the smashed screen and tell Satnta that's what he's bringing me this year.
Go Europe!
I conducted a snap raid this morning to snag three of these:

How much is that? I want one of those for my kid.
QuoteAn angry woman used pepper spray when Black Friday bargain-hunters tried to cut in line at a crowded Wal-Mart store in Los Angeles late Thursday, leaving 15 people with minor injuries.

On Black Friday? I'm impress.
Just ordered a sweet ASUS laptop from Bestbuy, gonna go down later today and pick it up. 8GB RAM, 1TB HD, and NVIDIA 560M for $1,199.
Cons, it's 17.3', but once I get back to Korea it'll just sit on my desk so it's not much of a hassle. A lot less hassle and expense than shipping a desktop over there and back.

No sale on iPhones = operation aborted.
Not suffering the hipster-zerg rush is probably for the best.
I've got a big bowl of leftovers and the remainder of the turkey has been simmering on the stove since last night. If there's a heaven, this is what it smells like. There is no way in hell I'm leaving this house today. :)

It helps when the manager plays in the monthly poker game and owes me money.
Next year I'm taking American Thanksgiving off. Fuck this crap work days when all you want to do is stuff your face & shop.

Can't you share?
Friend called up and offered to drive if I went to the mall with him. It was crowded but not terrible, as is usually the case by five or six. Wasn't in a shopping mood so I only bought some candles.
QuoteThe start of the US holiday shopping season was marred by shootings and pepper-sprayings as bargain-hunters stampeded stores.
The violence gave a whole new meaning to Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving when many retailers move out of the red and into the black.
The incidents, including at least two robberies, mostly took place at branches of the store chain Walmart.
Half of the entire US population is expected to hit the shops this weekend.
Many stores had crowds rushing in as they opened at midnight - several hours earlier than they usually do - on the busiest shopping day of the year.
The openings were mostly peaceful, but there were ugly scenes in some places as crowds competed for goods.
One of the most dramatic incidents happened in a Walmart store in Los Angeles, where police are using CCTV footage to hunt for a woman who used pepper spray on crowds competing for Xbox 360s.

Sounds like it went pretty well all things considered.
Robberies? Huh, seems like a bad time for it at first blush, unless you've got some kind of Inside Man scheme going.
Though, since I've worked there, I can confirm that a Wal-Mart would be a great place to rob if you can get into their bookkeeping office and can get away with it.
On a whim, my wife and I dropped by Best Buy to see what was up this morning after a very late dinner. We got there about 115, left about 3 with a new 37" TV.
Damn thing was only $350 (it wasn't one of those things people camp out for, just a normal ~$75 off sale or something, and it wasn't even marked. I just saw the boxes up on the top rack and asked the dude how much they were), and the 32" I had in the back room had been really pissing me off yesterday. The goddamn thing just wouldn't respond to its remote for some reason. I had to walk over to it, hold the remote a couple inches from the sensor, and mash the button 7 or 8 times just to turn it on or off. So basically, there was no point to even having the remote for it. Now that we moved it though it works just fine in its new location. I don't know what the deal with that is, but I guess it works out.
Edit: Oh and I got a new router too. Netgear N600 or some such.
I helped my parents order a new i7 Dell, through an online Black Friday special. Now they can download five times as much spyware and malware before having their computer grind to a halt. Interestingly enough, I managed to clean out their current computer so well that my dad is having second thoughts about going through with replacing their four year old Core 2 Inspiron. :hmm:

I haven't gone out shopping this weekend yet. :( I'm feeling like such a non-conformer.
I went to Costco yesterday with my dad so he could buy me a new TV for Xmas :showoff:. I was expecting full contact shopping like usual on any random weekend there, but it was pretty tame, there were quite a few parking spots near the doors. We went at 3PM, I think we hit the window after the maniacs that were up all night had crashed and before the poor slobs that had to work got off.

Too bad you missed out on the traditional pushing and shoving, and possible low scale mayhem for the true Black Friday experience. ;)

Moving it fixed it, not a new battery. It wasn't working with either the TV remote or the DirecTV remote that was programmed for it.
I
think it might have been because it was too low and the "signal" wasn't getting to the sensor properly, although it's not like it was on the floor or something, just on a small TV stand. It was annoying as fuck though, whatever was causing it.
