Sometimes you start with one. Failing that, you can get them at level up and there may be a chance of stealing them in fights (but I'm not positive about that).

No. Sometimes you just have a string of bad luck. It gets easier once you finally find a weapon.

Considering the fights are fully random, just bad luck.

Though pulling out your sword when the other guy starts to beat on you helps a lot. (6-0 baby! :cool:)

Well, I know you attacked fahdiz and I, and we're both higher level right now so the odds aren't very good. Were the other fights against people your own level? If so that's shitty luck, though I think I lost my first 4 too for whatever that's worth. You gain experience even when you lose, so you'll get more powerful and things should break better.

Yeah, the other 4 were against same level. I had about as much luck regardless.

There seems to be some variability in the characters stats, and my chick started out with a low strength - seemed like she just never hit as hard as whoever was wailing on her.

Yeah, there's a ton of variability in the starting stats, it kind of smooths out a bit more as you level from what I can tell.

I actually think my character was stronger at level 2 than at level 5. Back then I only had a dog and a ninja star, and he would use the ninja star the entire battle, hitting 7 or 8 times in a row before the enemy could hit back. Now he randomly switches between weapons, maybe throwing the ninja star one or two times before tossing it away. He isn't nearly as dangerous.

So I didn't realize that when you create a character by clicking on a specific person's page, you become their pupil. I'm a pupil of fhdz, simply because I wanted to smack him around. I see that he has a lot of pupils... I wonder how many other people had that same intention in mind. :)

Yes. Everything in the 'game' is random, except for your name, appearance, and who you challenge to fights. :lol:

Whether one's brute is lethal or not depends very much on whether the abilities it gets are complementary or not. So far I only have the one weapon, but it's a doozy, and all of the enhancements make it nastier - I tend to lose on occasion where he, for some reason, fails to pull it out.

Oh, everyone isn't doing that? I made myself 3 pupils almost first thing out of the gate. :D With only three fights a day, I'd have done it for entertainment even if it weren't advantageous.

And anyway, you're never going to powergame your way to the top of this thing. The guy that won the tournament yesterday had like 5,000 pupils, the guy he was in the final with had more than that.

Pets aren't all that. They take the hp off of your brutes total so all you get is a bit of extra damage.

True, but there's other abilities that will help one to block the mace attack and knock the mace out of your hands. ;)

The dog is nice, but I'd rather have abilities like impact, armor, vitality or martial arts. At least than the first dog.

I ran into someone like that - only thing is that he "screamed" after the pets had already chewed on him down to the bone, so it didn't help him much. :lol:

It's not super powerful, but it does area damage, so if your opponent has pets it can help.

The fan is pretty cool, when armed with it I make multiple attacks with 5-9 damage. The Fan usually kills wolves.

Come to think of it the bomb is good against wolf packs since it does 15-17 damage to the Brute and kills both wolves in one throw. But I'd like that mace myself.

The morningstar isn't all that. Easily dodged, rarely gets extra attacks, blocks or anticipates the other brute's attack. And normally it does as much damage as the club(or "bumps" :lol:). The reason Malthus' guy can use it to such devastating effect is that he's gotten strength pretty much every level up, as well as getting the strength and fierce brute bonuses.

Best weapons I've had are the whip(lots of extra attacks, frequent anticipation of the other guy's attack, and occasionally knocks the other guy's weapon out) and the sai(which very frequently knocks the other guy's weapon out). I've never gotten the flail or that other big mace but they look quite appealing as well

Edit- it's not a mace but a hammer I was thinking of. Just fought against a character that had it and "borrowed" the brute. It's crazy, she does 70ish damage with only 4 strength. Only weapon I've seen that I'd take over the whip.

I guess a lot of those are self-registered. It's probably easier/faster to create new pupils and level them to 2 (which you can do in the first 6 fights) to collect 1XP and then start new ones instead of leveling them all the way up.

Haven't much to add, except that "fierce brute" is more like a singular event that adds damage to an attack - you only get it once per fight. It is great if you happen to be holding your mace at the time :menace: - it sucks if you add it to a punch in the nose.
