OMFG I just found out. Sims 3 is being released for Mac in June. I'm so happy.
SQUEE!
And so you can buy another sequel at full price to get things that add ons for the last game did. Dance, lemmings!

If it makes you happy. It can't be that bad.
Marti, while I too plan on buying Sims 3 for the Mac, this is not exactly news. I knew they were releasing a Mac version months ago...

Well it take a while for mail to arrive in Poland. Horse drawn carriages and all.

It was winter and wolves ate most couriers from the West. -_-

Well I checked it maybe in December and noone knew if the Mac version was to be released at all, so I kinda stopped following it. :P
I don't know. Playing out the lives of promiscuous lesbian teenage twins got boring after a while. The main fun I got out of the game was designing houses and community lots.

I would often create a set of characters from my favourite tv shows, and then see them fall into the pit of despair, as their lives unravelled around them.
Wow. Two gay things together at last.
:bleeding:
Sims is pretty fun. But I agree that it was designing the lots that was the most fun.
I'm sometimes tempted to buy an used copy to replicate my ancient (and now lost) Sims AAR with Li'l Jaron, Marty, Berks, and all trapped in a house together. Neat freak Berks clashed horribly with mega slob Marty until Marty took one last swim. I had to take the ladder out of the pool because he had outlived his usefullness and not gotten a job that would allow me to buy more swag for the house.
Berks and the rest perished in the fire that Li'l Jaron started. Having gotten tired of pissing on the floor after the group lost bathroom privelages Li'l Jaron's stress skyrocketed and he lost control of the kitchen.

Big Brother: The Elm Street Edition :D
Cool. My school's required material resources are probably gonna involve me getting a new laptop, so I was thinking of a Macbook Pro. Glad to hear there's gonna be more on it than Fable by the time I get around to it. ;)
There is now a Sims 3 billboard on the southern approach into San Francisco. It replaced the billboard from Mobil that told me that I could help the environment by remembering to unplug electronics that were not in use. -_-
And so the idiots will buy half a dozen crappy add on packs again...

Why idiots? I enjoyed Sims 2 and enjoyed the expansion packs. Each of them rekindled my interest in the game, providing me with fun. I have money and I didn't mind spending it, especially as an expansion pack was about the price of a single night out - say, cinema or opera tickets, a drink and something to eat.
If you don't like the product, don't buy it. But don't disparage others, because they enjoy their life in different ways than you do (or, judging from your posts, at all - unlike you).

Better to use the money to buy cheap booze and wake up with a rough trick named Sven, right?
I hate to admit it, but I did derive some enjoyment from the original Sims and Sims 2, though it was Princesca who purchased and put the most time into the latter.
Of course I spent most of my time killing and torturing the Sims, but like Marti says, I enjoy life in different ways than you people. :menace:

I just make representations of Berkut and Ed Anger and make them have gay sex with each other.

Doesn't bother me.
Wasn't there a Sims ripoff about managing a prison or something? That looked neat.

Prison Tycoon, maybe? I thought Border Defense National Security Patrol (http://www.gamersgate.com/index.php?page=product&what=view&sku=DD-BORDER) could also be to your liking.

Yeah, Prison Tycoon, that's the one I was thinking of.

Hasn't he been disbarred by now?
So is anyone besides Marty getting this tomorrow?
No, although it did inspire me to play Sims2 again recently. I think I'm tapped out though; I don't see myself purchasing Sims 3.
I used Sims2 mostly as a house designer. I don't see me buying Sims3 to upgrade on that feature. I'm more interested in CitiesXL, but their plans for a subscription service for downloadable content/persistent worlds is turning me off atm.
Btw, IGN has a review up.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/988/988108p1.html
The change I like most is that NPCs age and have children. That got me slightly hooked right now, altough my plan of having one child per household and use him to further the legacy failed instantly at the first birth Why? Because the game thought my character was Ed Anger.
I used MAC to quell my (gaming in general really) Sims addiction... :( bastards!
I have bought Sims 1 and Sims 2, and despite liking the concept was always left disappointed.
So of course I'm now installing Sims 3 hoping this time they got it right. :ohyeah:
I can't believe I actually got Sims 3. I never was interested in the first two because I saw them as too limited (and too annoying) to be interesting. However, with this one I think they finally advanced it to the point where the game has become interesting.
I think it's stupid that time doesn't speed up during sleep cycles like in Sims 2.
A guy on Wargamer.com commented that while the game is fun, parts of it have been dumbed down, some interactions removed and overall having less things to do than vanilla Sims2 while also having serious balancing issues (some things too easy/too hard). He still recommends it.
I picked it up myself yesterday against better knowledge. -_-
I created a fairly decent avatar of myself who has the goal of becoming a reknowned writer. I'll post a screenie tonight. Mostly diddled with the creation tools which I like a lot better than the previous incarnation, esp. the ability to modify colours of existing designs within the game. House building also appears fairly streamlined now. Haven't played the game proper yet, though.
I was a bit put off that there's only one (well, with the download two) cities to play in; but you can create copies of them (so that you can start over anytime) and you can edit them fairly freely, so that's ok.
What I don't like: the online store which I briefly checked out. The most comprehensive set of interior design (all rooms covered) for furniture etc. comes at 2000 Sims points, or 22 EUR for me (1 Sims Point = 0.01 EUR, plus VAT), which is about the price the regular Sims2 expansions cost here (Nightlife, Campus Life etc.). Clothes for 0.50 to 1 EUR a piece? Come on! Fortunately, the modding community will take care of this sooner or later, I guess; though it may suck if some mods depend on official meshes.

Prison Tycoon. Ide thought that was so unbelievably wrong in many ways. You should never make fun of what people in jail go through!
I'm definitely thinking about getting this game. I liked Sims 2 (never played the first one) and I like some of the improvements mention like the personal bars (potty, hunger, sleep, etc) filling faster and emptying slower.
Does anyone know the extra you get for buying the collectors edition?
Just bought the game and am currently downloading it. Can't wait to play. :w00t:
I expect Princesca will be buying it. She LOVED Sims 2.
I bought it, thought it was really cool, played it for 10 minutes.
I still think it's cool, but I am too engrossed with EU3 instead.

EU3 is gay?
Ghey as in the pejorative.
Haven't played much, either. I'm busy drawing maps.
Yeah, it's pretty fun. I don't like the fact that they want you to spend more dollars to get better clothes and furniture though. And I'm not super duper impressed with the character customization.
