This is damn hard.
Why do you people use such obtuse spellings?
http://www.sporcle.com/games/states.php
The European one is easier and more doable.
They are native names.
Also, British names are more obtuse.
Hard?
Sporcle is awesome.
The hardest thing about that test was the typing

14 minutes. I managed 50 out of 100, but with all solutions revealed I was, "Ah, him/her/them!" in many cases.

They've some weird choices. No Erasmus or Calvin? Stephenson or Brunel? Lincoln and Washington but no Gladstone, Disraeli or Cromwell? So few royals? Churchill but no Ghandi? And no Babbage but no Baird? TV is rather important...
And princess Diana!?!?
There was Ghandi there (actually, there wasn't, but there was Gandhi).

Actually, I had to remember Connecticut as I'd learned it wrong as a child (always forgot the 2nd c). Mass was easy as I lived there. :P
Hardest part for me was reading the instructions. I'd anticipated it would show me a state and then ask me to spell. So when it started I was like "Why isn't any state highlighted?!!!11"

The latter being the correct spelling. People who spell it Ghandi are the same monsters that spell Egyptian royalty as "Pharoah".

Got all 50 with 24 seconds to spare.
Also, Massachuttes has a crappy name and I'll spell it however I damn please.
Missed 5 on European languages, but should have known 4 (Latin, Luxembourgish, Catalan, Galician)
Couldn't spell Equitorial Guinea on the Africa quiz, and missed Sao Tome, Cape Verde, Seychelles and comoros.
Got the math with 55 seconds to spare. :smarty:

Have to bow to you, Viking. I could only get 153, and felt pretty good about myself at the time for remembering things like 'Seychelles'. (Mad mike tried a coup there, so..)
I also was embarassed by my capacity to spell, and i've stared at old maps way too long; I typed rhodesia three times in frustration, before it clicked.
what I forgot was overwhelmingly the carribean; I literally forgot everything there that wasnt cuba, and then got pegged badly in the pacific as well.
States done in two minutes, eight seconds.
Damn my slow typing.

18. Started with former parts of the Ottoman Empire, then went through the various EU countries, then other major immigrant destinations, then various neighbors and Turkic countries. Should've gotten 19, but I didn't think of Afghanistan. Would never have thought of Belarus.
This site is really addictive. Thanks to it I can now name St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua, Comoros, Seychelles, Sao Tome and Principe, and many other tiny shitty island countries.

It was curious to me that they showed close ups for things like Europe and West Africa but didn't have one for Micronesia and the like.
States, almost 3 minutes remaining, 99th percentile.
29 seconds on the math. And my advisor wondered why I wanted to go back down to College Algebra after almost four years not in school. <_<

Rhodesia, I weep for thee.
Agreed. Africa needs to blob up a little. Why the holes in South Africa, why the balkanization on the west coast?
Monaco, Andorra, San Marino, the Vatican, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg all need to be annexed into the French/English/Spanish/whatever empire. Same for all those pissy little island countries.

No they're not. They were separate Crown Colonies as opposed to part of the Dominion of South Africa :)
You are right, of course. In defense of my answer, the native enclaves would have looked the same. I knew about their british protectorate status, so there is little excuse here.
(Maybe it was wishful thinking that the homelands policy still had relevence?)
