I wish it had been Vince though. He could have challenged Dodd to a cage match. :(
QuoteLinda McMahon running against Dodd

GREENWICH, Conn.—World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. says Linda McMahon is stepping down as chief executive officer to seek the Republican nomination to run against Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd.
WWE said in a statement Wednesday morning that McMahon's husband, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, is assuming her duties.
Linda McMahon formally announced her candidacy Wednesday morning. She says Washington is "out of control" and Dodd has "lost his way and our trust." She says she has the strength to stand up to special interests and bring change to Washington.
The 60-year-old Greenwich resident is up against three other Republicans—former U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons, state Sen. Sam Caligiuri and former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley. Dodd plans to run for a sixth term next year.
Hey professional wrestlers have a glorious tradition in American politics.
You heard it here first: some day in the future, there will be a President The Rock. :contract:

I thought he was sticking to Dwayne Johnson now?
He is, but President The Rock sounds infinitely more awesome than President Johnson.
When I think President Johnson I become: enraged.
President Mankind.
Now that be great.

I can imagine the bipartisanship in that administration.
"It doesn't matter what you think of my bill!"

What has become of Gov. Jesse Ventura, btw?
I think he's trying to turn himself into a news commentator or talk show host. I think he had a show on Fox or something a few years back.
Anyway, the Linda MacMahon thing is almost certainly a stunt they're going to use as an upcoming story angle.
Bring back the XFL instead.
Not surprised that Cal actually watches wrestling. :P

If it ends with Mitch McConnell power-bombed through a table I will be a happy man. :menace:

Lots of people watched wrestling, once upon a time.
Good, I hope she beats Dodd. I hope someone defeats him, what ever party. Along with about half the rest of them in Congress which is ready for a real house cleaning. But especially some of these entrenched guys like Dodd. By the way, is that investigation on his financial dealings with Countrywide getting anywhere? Will it ever? How long does it take....sheesh, what a joke. Probably never get it done.

Apparently she's got some very respectable Republican consultants working on her campaign
