Although I'm passing on waiting in line to pick up a copy at midnight tonight, I will pick up my Microcenter pre-order of Madden tomorrow evening.
Anyone else plan on getting it this weekend? I finally played the demo last night and it felt... different. Should be worth my $35 in any case :)
How'd it feel different? Hopefully gonna get it..thinking about picking up a ps3 when my 58" gets here next week. ^_^
There's only one football game worth getting:

The Sexybox demo version felt clunky to me. While NCAA '10 is smooth as butta, Madden just seems weird to me.
My Amazon preorder should be coming today. :)

Yeah; hopefully the clunkiness is smoothed out with an update or I hope I'm at least able to adjust to the graphics (which are good but have a weird feel to them). I *do* like the fact that the game is slowed down, though.
The more I play NCAA 10, the more I like it. NCAA 09 was good but NCAA 10 may be the best version yet. Save for the original Bill Walsh Sega game that didn't even have NCAA licensing of course :P

Clunky and awkwardly slow. Maybe I could get used to the speed, but I'm not enthused.
The PC version needs an update. They should patch it so that Vick is on the Eagles and in the stands are people with PETA signs. :P
Wait, there's a Madden 10 PC?

I think he was saying either there needs to be a Madden 10 for the PC or the last version needs an update. There is no PC version.
A PC version would be nice, but even nicer would be if NFL 2K_ could have continued past 2K5 (which was one of the best NFL games ever).
Yeah, EA Sports isn't making PC version of most his games anymore.
Yeah blame the NFL for that. They asked for an exclusive deal. EA shelled out more.

I still might get it, just to see how those NCAA '10 draft classes translate to Madden. I want to see Tebow and Pryor in Madden.
Debating whether to get it now or wait a few months. Right now, I'm leaning toward closer to opening day. That'll give it some time to be patched to a legit playing level as well as having the rosters being accurate. Anyone that has it: Have they by chance integrated the awesome team philosophy element from Head Coach? It's the ability to set your preferences for style of play/what you want for your players to do, i.e. Pure Passer, Field General, Strong Arm/Tools, balanced, scrambling for QB. It then changes up the usefulness/rankings of players depending on how they fit your choices.

I haven't started a dynasty yet, but I'll check.
The gameplay is gonna take some getting used to  I wouldn't say it's a bad game but I think NCAA 10 is better.
One thing I did like was online co-op, even though the idiot I played with last night called a running play on 3rd & long, then missed the FG that would have put us within one score.
Oh, and the Bungles are rated 67 (or 68-- I forget). Yowch :pinch:

Big Ben is rated 99 for his rape rating.
Hmm, I've encountered this with most EA football games over the years, but it never gets annoying.
I was playing a cripple fight, er Rivalry Game between the Bungles & Browns on All-Pro (I usually play at the default setting but I was being adventurous). I was up on the Brownies 14-0 at the half & was shutting down their offense. Their offense woke up & scored 2 easy TDs in the 4th quarter (which might have just been my usual ineptitude at pass defense), so we were tied when I had the ball with just over a minute left. I marched down the field & set up a 44 yard FG with 5 seconds left. Lined it up perfectly & nailed with about 5 yards to spare. Just as it was sailing through the uprights I get a holding call that puts me out of range.
So we go into OT & I get the ball first. Same exact thing at about the 25 yard line. Had to win the damned game with a Leon Hall INT returned for a touchdown.
I might do a dynasty with a non-Bungles team. Likely candidates are: Colts (Dallas Clark, nuff said), Eagles, or Ravens (Flacco!!). Can't use the Bungles unless I edit Cedric Benson's stats. He runs like a goddamned pig in the game.
4th Quarters in Madden. :bleeding: I swear, the shit is a victim of the infamous Mario Cart Law: No matter how much you're destroying the opposition, they always stage a semi-comeback at the end.
And... I broke down and bought the game for 360.
I think I can hold off until September when rumoured 360 price cuts come into effect, then I'm getting this or NCAA. :sadblush:

hell, every EA sports game cheats in the last quarter or period. The NHL games are bad for that.
The best thing that ever happened to Philly was Vick playing there. The shittiest fans in the world get the shittiest dogkiller in the world as a backup QB.

It's not really a price drop. It's get the elite model for the price of the Pro thing.
Still too expensive.
Picked up Madden and Fight Night 4 on Sat night.
BA- Had my niners score touchdown vs Cowboys to go up 14-10 with :35 secs left....
ended up losing on a 75yd td beating prevent defense for final score of 16-14
That's what you get for playing prevent! Shit is as awful in Madden as it is in real life. All it prevents is you winning. I played the first preseason game of the Bills v. the Bears, won 70-0. Suckers. I love how at the half when it was 35-0 and I had like 230 passing and 75 rushing yards compared to their -4 rushing and 25 passing, the halftime girl said "it looks like both teams are putting up a solid offensive effort". Say what?

well it really wasn't a prevent more like dime package in a cover 2 zone.
Oh, also: For those of you who said it felt really slow, there's an option for game speed. The default is set to slow, I switched it to normal prior to playing it at slow, and the game felt normal.

True. Same reason I still haven't bought one.

edit: just saw you didn't want an Arcade, but you can shop around for a cheap hard drive to slap on it, like my brother did early this year.

Despite his raiting in the game, does anyone else find that aaron rodgers sucks?
Just started a superstar mode game as Brian Robeskie. It's actually pretty cool so far. A vast improvement as of now over past Superstar modes.
What's different? I usually enjoy superstar mode.

I changed my mind. It blows. There's really nothing left to it. Shit, I remember for the PS2 version in years past there were all sorts of options and developments during the year. Now? Nothing. Games and practices randomly. That's it. You can talk to an agent, but it's retarded as all you can do is talk smack about an opponent or guarantee a victory. The freakin' Pro Bowl is placed prior to the Super Bowl, you have no idea if you've won any awards or even made it to the Pro Bowl until you play it and notice you're on the roster. I don't know if this is because I made use of the new option to play as a real rookie and played as Brian Robeskie instead of making someone up, but it sucks. A lot. The actual in-game game play is kind of fun I guess, but you have little to no power over anything but yourself.
I haven't played much of my Madden 09, mostly because I thought that the controls sucked compared to previous versions. I won't shell out 70 EUR for the new version, much less with all the "premium pack" bullshit that lets you buy upgrades/extra play modes. Maybe I'll pick up MLB 2K9 from Gamersgate for 20 for PC, though.
I've got to say, the features and play modes on the 360 compared to the PS2 are a distinct downgrade.
FFS people I have just bought this for my PS3, tell me its worth it.

If you don't care about an abortion of a Superstar Mode or a significantly pared down Franchise Mode compared to older non-Nextgen system models, you'll enjoy it. The gameplay has improved, the graphics are prettier, it's just lacking all of the fun extra elements that really sold it for me personally.
Okay so I need suggestions on what team should I play in Franchise. I dont want a crappy team to suffer with, but I do want a sense of achievment over the seasons so no team already on top either.
Well as long as you avoid the Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, and St. Louis Rams on the low end, and New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Indianapolis Colts on the high end, you should be fine.
Pick a nice NFC North team like the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, or Minnesota Vikings for some fun weather effects in winter. :)

Chompians don't care about the play-by-play.
It may be the Packers. Tell me about them. Beware, if I get accustomed to a team in the game, they may very well end up as the team I support in RL :P
Third oldest franchise in football...small town team really. The people literally own the packers, they're the only community owned professional sports team in the US.
Natural rivals of the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings gonna be a big rival this year since they have Favre now.
And who doesn't love Lambeau Field in Winter? Seriously.
Packers (as of this year):
Strong linebackers (including the faboo AJ Hawk), going to a 3-4 defense. Cheeseheads are expecting a revival in the D.
Rodgers had good stats last year. Jennings is a good young WR, with Driver as a good possession receiver.
Oh yeah, and don't forget the best fans in the NFL btw, every Packers game at Lambeau Field has been sold out since 1960.
Beat that patriotards.

The original 8 AFL teams (Chargers, Broncos, Titans*, Jets, Bills, Patriots, Raiders & Chiefs**) are playing some games this year in retro uniforms. So it's sort of in line with that.
I'm just happy whenever the AFL (competitor to the NFL in the 1960s that merged with the NFL) gets some love.
*originally Houston Oilers
**originally Dallas Texans
