There's quite a market in selling nostalgia to my age group not least in PC games. Remastered or remade PC games seem to sell well. I bought the Command and Conquer pack and was instantly reminded how bad AI was in 1996. Also it had terrible level design (one mission had you start in range of enemy guns and the only way to progress was to flee headlong into the unknown and set up a base in an area you don't have time to explore. Destroying the guns is not possible.) Still, I played through it and had fun. What PC games would you like remade/remastered?
I want to see Myth: The Fallen Lords and the sequel Myth: Fall Harder redone. That was a great game. There was a game that Syt referred to a few times called Dark Lands but it was simply too ugly to play in the modern era. I'd love to try that.
Dune I
Civ 2

Remastered: Command & Conquer 3.
Remade: Betrayal at Krondor.

Civ 2
there are 4 others that came after that, with the same gameplay.
Colonization - did not like the Civ4 based attempt
Jagged Alliance - currently in the works apparently
Remade:
Empire of the Fading Suns.
Remastered:
Age of Rifles.
Railroad Tycoon II
SMAC
Freespace II
SimEarth
L.
Yeah, a new Sim Earth would be great
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Again.
SimEarth and those old Sierra adventure games.

SMAC
Balance of Power (Chris Crawford)
Pride of Nations
Alpha Centauri, as a true 4X game, not some of the RTS or modern Age of Wonders knockoffs.
M.U.L.E. because I always say that.
A cool strategic wargame like SSI or Microprose did back in the day.
Pool of Radiance and the Gold Box games, again without the hard drive erasing like the last Pool of Radiance remake did.

Total Annihilation, the best RTS ever should be re-made with a better AI. Later attempts at the same kind of game on the same scale were too complex and not very fun.

How ridiculous. On the other hand, if they were expecting Chess they could have just gotten a chess set.
They should remake Knights of the Old republic II. This time with a coherent story line.

Have you tried Ashes of the Singularity? If so, what did you think of it?

It's very coherent. With the restored content mod, at least. :)
I guess they'll see how #1 goes first. :)

Ridiculously good with staggering breadth, it is without a doubt one of the greatest RPGs ever made

One just came to me.
Queen the eye.
A game built long ago themed around Queen, the band.
Apparently it was bad and of course wouldn't hold up today.
Still I want to play.

Agreed on Colonization. Didn't like the Civ4 based one very much either.
Empire of the Fading Suns.
Also Darklands. Based in Medieval Europe. I don't play many of these type games but really liked that one.

Yes, I enjoyed Transport Tycoon and feel a lot more could be done with it in a remake.

+1 I really liked the different offices and their responsibilities and assets. A new version would fit the post-
Dune-release world perfectly.
The Olympics, summer andwinter along with the world cup could all do with a makeover.

Duque, probably wasn't that great, iirc it was one of those button bashing games that you had to do in certain rhythms depending on the sport undertaken.

There were some really good mods for it. I played one which gave a lot more units and types, probably other items but don't remember, and I think the AI was tougher.
I bought that game from GoG.games, pleasantly surprised to find it playable now. A bit dated but still fun.
I think it could be fun to have the old TSR and D&D games redone into 5e or whatever the next system they release for rules, classes, races, and what not.

Fond memories of playing that kind of games even later (early '90s) in stores (Konami Track and Field) leaving buttons in pads and joysticks completely smashed. :D

As it should be. :)
M.A.X.: Mechanized Assault & Exploration. I'd like to see that remastered, keeping to a similar game play but with additions to it to make it a more robust resource gathering and building war game. I played that game a lot! Used to be one of my go to games for a less stressful type game.
Majesty for me, haven't really found any games that scratch that itch since.

Eye of the Beholder 2 should be remade. I have fond memories of that game, and of a particular room filled with skeletons... :yucky: :glare:
