Because I was in Europe in 2008 while it was going on, I paid some attention to Euro 2008 - also the last time I paid attention to a Euro tournament.
So my picks are based on what I remember about who was good 13 years ago. :lol: Plus I picked Ukraine to win out - but it seems like a weak-ish group.
Having Portugal, France and Germany in one group doesn't quite seem fair though.

Last world cup, they tied with Brazil and won vs Serbia. Draw vs Costa Rica as well.

It was somewhat lucky but Wales got to the semis in 2016. They have a lot of very decent players - Bale, Ramsey, James etc.
Turkey were lots of people's dark horses - and Ukraine - as they had quite a young team (except for Yilmaz) that's played really well in all the recent qualifiers. But they just seem a lot more cautious than expected. It's understandable against Italy, but I feel like they should be pushing and trying to break a lot more against Wales :mellow:

Just like Turkey, the sheer number of Russians should help them find 11 world class players. Maybe Putin and Erdogan find soccer stars too threatening to their regime and keeps having them assassinated if they get too good.
Sheer demographics are not a good tool to gauge a country's footie potential. You have, on one hand, tiny countries like Uruguay and Portugal, punching way above their weight, and on the other behemoths like Russia and Turkey that most of the time suck donkey balls. Not to speak of China or India, of course.
It's about the whole pipeline of kids programs, schools, local clubs and so on that nurture talent.

Personally I'm pretty happy with my #10 finish. With 26 right and 25 wrong I got more correct than incorrect.
