Sounds like it happened outside of the venue, near the box office at the Arena entrance, as the concert ended.

Interesting that the BBC are reporting sources in the USA say it was a suicide bomber.  :hmm:

I know NBC has people on the ground in the area; suicide bomber scenes are rather distinct, what with plenty of evidence there.  And over there.  And some here.

Well my only UK based cousin lives in Manchester, but her children are now too old to be part of that likely audience, so I'm fairly sure they'd not have been hit, though it's slightly concerning as it's a significant travel interchange.

QuoteTrump calls attackers 'evil losers'

US President Donald Trump has condemned the attack in Manchester during his visit to Bethlehem.

In a speech alongside Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Trump said those responsible for the deaths of 22 people in Manchester were "evil losers in life."

"I won't call them monsters because they would like that term," Trump said.

"I will call them from now on losers because that's what they are."

Well, one is the seemingly honest reaction of an impulsive moron, the other is the run of the mill, crafted-to-soullessness reaction of a professional politician.

And the point is, we SHOULD avoid raising these terrorist to some kind of demonic anti-pedestal. They are NOT evil masterminds with an agenda.
These people are Europe's version of school shooters - frustrated losers. Unfortunately, due to their heritage and religion, they were able to find a channel and amplifier for their frustrations

It is a bit rich positing that Trump is making that point as Trump's base of support is all about terrorists being evil masterminds out to destroy the west.

I don't get what is so great about honest reactions either but then I don't vote for populist politicians. :hmm:

One of the intel business talking heads last time said they estimate Britain alone has roughly 500 individuals with direct training and combat experience in Syria, never mind the thousands of wired sympathizers.  It's nice you get to come home from something like that.

You are giving him credit where basically none is due. I don't think anyone reasonable actually views us in a big masterminded war of islam vs the west. Also, I'm not sure that anyone thinks we should glorify terrorists, in fact, constant opinion pieces about how we shouldn't.

And again, Trump's support and stance on Islam is actually the narrative that boosts the profile of Islamic terrorists. The man who insists on stating 'radical islamic terrorism'.

Well, your President being a 70 years old mentally stuck in kindergarten is a given. And yes, one evidence of that is that he was speaking out against the very propaganda that helped get him elected. I am quite certain that is lost on him.

Still, the point he made was valid.

I know what you mean, but I also know what Gups mean.

Reading the nice May speech about the "spirit of Manchester" is a bit exhausting. The same speeches after every attack -even if true and well meaning- grow tiring and just part of a horrible routine.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a returning ISIS fighter, we've been warned that several hundred of these will grace our shores with their presence now that their "caliphate" is fucked.

Never heard of Ariana Grande before now, I'm guessing her core audience are 13-year old girls?

She's pretty regular feature in top 40 pop in the last few years.
and being neither gay nor underage, it is totally expected that we have no idea what she sounds like. :D

  She is a little cutie pie.  And 13 was a long time ago.

Agree. I was more referring to the robots and aliens angle in Tim's video.

WTF? Manchester attack: Police 'not sharing information with US' (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-40040210)

QuotePolice investigating the Manchester Arena bomb attack have stopped sharing information with the US after leaks to the media, the BBC understands.
UK officials were outraged when photos appearing to show debris from the attack appeared in the New York Times.

Apparently the UK authorities wanted to wait another 24 hours before releasing for the suspect's name, and were not happy to read it in the US media first while they were in the process of searching for additional suspects.

Yep
The Americans really fucked up on this one.

I do like the new attempted approach from the UK of not glorifying the attacker.

Has less to do with glorification than it does with an ongoing investigation of immediate national security implications.

The British are just as guilty as the Americans in killing Syrian children.  Well, those not killed by Assad.  I mean, those that survived the Russian bombings.  Those not killed by Isis either.  And the Al-Nusra front.  And the other rebel groups.

But of those that are left, they were killed by American aircrafts.  And British.  And Canadians, even if our planes aren't part of it.  And the French too.  Possibly the Belgians and the Danes.  Danes are notoriously treacherous, planting their flags of conquests everywhere, if they can do that, they can do any evil.  Never trust a Dane, it is known.

Yes, it is looking like the bomber was merely a useful idiot; the relatively sophisticated bomb was made by someone else and that person is still at large.
