Let the hype begin.
Which are the recommended mods?
Nude mod is a must of course ;)
Excellent news. I prefer my RPGs to be based on medieval fantasy, so Fallout 4 just doesn't really cut it for me. I actually just want more of the same, and don't really care about whatever cutting edge stuff they are planning.
I am shocked.
The way I'm reading that article is "a new Elder Scrolls game will come out in the next 10 years" to which I say: duh.
This thread will be the shit in 2022!
I must saying, having started playing The Witcher 3, the thought of a new ES game does not excite me the least.
Well of course a new ES game is in development. It will be news when we hear where it is taking place :P

Is there ever going to be another Witcher game? :hmm:
It better not be set in Skyrim again. I'm hoping for the cat jungle (Elsewyr or something?) or the lizard swamp place.

IIRC they said no.

Repeat a province? Never happen.

I hope not. Call me a racist but I don't want to talk to cat or lizard people in funny accents non-stop in my Elder Scroll games.

Eh even if you really hate the host race the Empire is pretty cosmopolitan so all the races are usually we represented. Granted the Empire may or may not still be around.

Well yes all the races are represented. But the locals are still understandably dominant.
I'm thinking that Hammerfell will be the next location. Lots of room for stories there.
Wasn't Daggerfall set there? If like Valmy says they won't repeat a province, then Hammerfell should be out. :hmm:
given that there's at least one game with all provinces in it, they've been doing nothing but repeats :p
I have played Arena, which was the first game and it covered all provinces. It is actually quite meaningless because with the exception of the main quest related dungeons, everything else was randomly generated. So there really wasn't much difference among the provinces. Every city in each province looked the same. Every NPC felt the same.
I haven't played Daggerfall but I heard that it was the same. They only started doing the landscape, cities and NPCs in detail starting from Morrowind, I think. Since Morrowind, they have been doing different provinces.
Hopefully, it's time for a new engine?

Probably NOT given the "Skyrim Special Edition" likely being a "beta" of an updated engine for ESVI

Well ok I am not counting Arena here. Daggerfall also cheats for having two provinces :P
As you can see they only worked on making the world coherent after Daggerfall: http://i.imgur.com/B7rBN.jpg

Skyrim is 32 bit engine, able to use more than 2gb of memory with a mod (SKSE).
However, it suffers from all other limitations associated with such an engine. They can tweak it all they want, they run into many limits, including the number of scripts they can use (and that's a problem for modders, currently, they need to develop tools that merge mods or they make the game crash). And that province size is about the biggest they can go within the limit of the engine.
So, new engine, hence the long development time. They will release two other games before that, likely on that new engine, and that will let them tweak it.
Given they're saying don't expect it soon, they're working on big things, etc.... I think they probably are looking for a new engine.

They said that the SE will support 64bit, shacksen may be right.
Honestly they ought to try two provinces. I've never been a big fan of the lore. The only place that really felt unique was Morrowwind.
I had limited playing with Skyrim because of that. Got so bored of the Nords and all that snow and ice. Morrowind was much more interesting as you say.
Cyrodiil was supposed to be a Roman Empire of dark skinned people living in a jungle. And then they changed it to a generic fantasy setting to increase sales.
That experience tells me we are not likely to see something as weird as Morrowind again anytime soon.

:bleeding: Didn't know that.
The weird thing was they went BACK to being dark skinned Romans in Skyrim:

In Oblivion he would have been wearing full plate.
I am just happy that they are making a sequel.

I never followed the faction storylines and stayed pretty much neutral until the council at The Throat of the World, but Tullius and Hadvar also seemed to be a bit underdressed- the legionnaire captain who tries to behead you at the beginning is much more heavily armored than either of them. Definite Roman influence, but the folks from Cyrodiil protect their limbs much, much better.

Well right. They are not carbon copies of Romans. There was no ancient Republic or anything. They are waaaay more tolerant and cosmopolitan than actual Romans. Just in style.

The game map straddled the sea between High Rock and Hammerfell. Daggerfall itself is in High Rock.
I don't know if that means they will restrict themselves to kitties or lizard lands though. I doubt it. We already had a game set in an elf land. If they do revisit either the Daggerfall or Sentinel area, I hope they don't screw it up.
