Someone with a long love for Battletech posted on it in the miscellaneous thread already.
The downside is that the really cool features are quite a ways down those funding stages.
I sure would love a strategic Battletech game. I know the tactical has always been the lifeblood of the setting, but there's so much potential for awesome there.

I still fondly remember a Languish game of Battletech: Succession Wars, which was the mid-80s strategic board game of the setting. I remember there was me, Berkut, Tim, Monkeybutt, and I can't remember the fifth...

Looks like they're a lock for at least stage three.

Tim bailed on you during the second or third turn as the Capellans, didn't he? :hmm:

Just the guy who was managing/tracking the entire game board for you pukes. :glare:
I think I was also playing Kurita...but that could be my faulty memory, as I was a Kurita fanboy and always played the Kurita/Marik/Liao alliance against my brother.

IIRC you were Davion with Monkeybutt as Marik - BB was the Lyrans and Berkut Kurita; the two of them made an early game secret alliance and stomped all over Marik and Davion.
Tim had a poor first turn or two and quit; he may claim now that "something came up" but I'm fairly sure I can recall him posting that his position was hopeless at the time. Might be wrong though. :hmm:
I believe what came up was my job in North Carolina.
I did have a very poor opening to the game however.
With 9 hours to go they've got more than 2.6 million in funds. They've reached all stretch goals (at 2.5M), and they say that instead of adding more goals they'll use any excess funding they get to put more polish on the game.

Reasonable. Sometimes I shudder when companies just keep adding goal after goal.
While I am very interested in this game, it still amuses me to see how powerful a force nostalgia is.

15 more character classes! 7 more dungeons! 2 more continents! 8 more years of development needed!
Ok origin stories and cinematics and so forth? I'm in. I wasn't really interested in this game as a straight mech sim but if they use the mechanics to tell a story then that sounds like it is worth my $25.00.
I actually don't give much of a damn about Battletech (sue me), I had it as a kid but I don't think we ever got a game off with my friends. But the work the developers did with Shadowrun Dragonfall was fantastic, so I'm automatically interested in anything they do.
