So can we wash away the shame of having chosen Orange is the New Black last year? :hmm:
True detective or Fargo. I'll give the edge to TD.
I've only watched a couple of episodes of The Knick, but I like it. True Detective was pretty great though, gotta vote for that one.
The accents in Fargo bother me too much. I just can't stand it. :Embarrass:
True Detective.
While the happy ending was a bit more formulaic that I had expected from the buildup, it wasn't enough of a drop to kill the whole effort. It was still a tremendously done series.
Hannibal.

Hannibal.
What part of "new show of 2014" did you not understand?
I'm incredibly sleepy.
I'm voting for Transparent because almost no one else will.

I already had. :P
Other - That one with the Bigfoot and the aliens hunting wild moose from the Alaskan train while being chased by two naked survivalists.

Sounds pretty good.

Didn't know katmai hung out with aliens. NYUK
I saw maybe an episode and a half of True Detectives, an episode and a half of Penny Dreadful, and about 10 minutes of Fargo. Didn't care overly much for any of them. So I guess I'll vote Jaron.
My list:
Fargo
Halt & Catch Fire
Marco Polo(probably inflated because I saw it over last couple weeks)
True Detective
Tyrant
Manhattan
Silicon Valley
Gotham
Salem
The Strain
For 2013 I would probably switch my vote to Brooklyn Nine Nine. Funniest show on tv right now.

My list:
Halt & Catch Fire
I really liked that, and you rarely heard a peep about it.
"Fargo" barely pushing "True Detective" to second. "Halt and catch fire" a good number three.
True Detective started out great but ended with a whimper.
Marco Polo was very good despite glaring historical inaccuracies and anachronisms.
Those were the only two on the list I have seen. Voted for Marco Polo.
True Detective wins it for me, with Fargo as a very honorable second.
Fargo for me thanks to Billy Bob's performance edging out Matty McC's. TD and Transparent tying for second.
It was apparently a vintage year for new BBC dramas - Happy Valley, Line of Duty, the Honourable Woman. Unfortunately I missed them all.

Started getting into Season 1 of Happy Valley. I like how it's developing.
No Manhattan?
I voted TD, the only thing on the list I watched.
2014 is the year I started to suffer from series overload. Nothing new interested me & even running series have been falling off my shelves.
True Detective by far, its second season will surely be so hyped that it'll have a hard time living up to the expectations.
I must put a write in for Jane the Virgin for a honourable mention, it's a great show for the soft hearted of us, and much funnier that it has any right to be.

It's in my personal top 10, but didn't expect it to get votes. I chose the poll options mainly from what people talked about in the TV/Movie thread, but also looked at critical favorites.

"Happy Valley" and "Line of Duty" were brilliant. "Line of Duty" was great with Lennie James in it, but this series was even better.
The bitter irony of working in tv. I've only seen True Detective and Silicon Valley of shows listed.

I think you'd enjoy Line of Duty too.

We need to create new and better awards to acknowledge Keeley Hawes' performance as Denton in Line of Duty :o
She was really good, yes. "Line of Duty" was a clever series.
Vited True Detective. I've started into Marco Polo, but I don't think that it will compete for top honors. I'm also quite enjoying Gotham and Flash. I started Penny Dreadful, but haven't bothered to finish watching it yet.
True Detective, if only because of that one chicks amazing breasts.
Saw only 2 on the list so voted for one of them.
Looks like we have a clear winner,
I started watching Fargo on Netflix based on this thread and must say that I find the role of Billy Bob Thornton hilarious and generally like the show. Not sure if I like it better than True Detective though.
I wanted to watch Fargo, but Martin Freeman faking an American accent is distracting.
