Poll
Question: Which is better?
Option 1: Bewitched votes: 9
Option 2: I Dream of Jeannie votes: 9
Title: Best 1960s magical girlfriend comedy
Post by: Josquius on May 26, 2014, 05:18:59 AM
In the past few months I've been waking up at a fairly regular time for work and when I put on the TV repeats of one of these shows is always running. It was Bewitched for a while then they ran out of those and switched to Jeannie. Its been a while since I've seen either of them. So nostalgic and strange.
So because the world needs more pointless polls- WHICH IS BEST?!?!?!?!?!!111

Despite Eden's revealing outfits, I always thought Montgomery was much hotter.

That's what this is about, right?

I prefer cyberpunk Norse deities in '80s Japan.

"Oh My Goddess" (http://www.mangareader.net/161-10468-1/ah-my-goddess/chapter-1.html) for the win!

Other:

Japanimation about the same topic from the '80s-90s to piss off the Ségolènes of Languish.

Jeannie was much, much, funnier. So funny that it drove Larry Hagman to drug abuse and near crippling injuries.

Yes, but let's not overlook that Jeannie called Larry Hagman "Master" and, unlike Samantha, didn't have a scheming mother always around.

Yeah, Bewitched May have had the Kravitzes and the occasional appearance of Paul Lynde--who was awesome--but Jeannie had Major Healey and Colonel Bellows.

I'd have been fucking the shit out of that genie 18 hours a day and been booted from the Air Force, but so what, you get to bang a hot genie all goddamned day.

Yup.  Who needs income or personal maintenance when you can just let the genie come up for air a couple times a day? :perv:

Every animated character has giant eyes.

That manga's been published monthly since the 80's, the arts evolved (http://anime.astronerdboy.com/2010/09/belldandy-her-changing-appearance-over.html#.U4NbMyjb5IV).

Also, I wouldn't say she's flat chested (http://www.mangareader.net/161-10669-13/ah-my-goddess/chapter-202.html).

And, since it had a lot more exterior shots than Bewitched, there were plenty of scenes with some sweet ass boss cars.  God, that blue '67 GTO convertible and Healey's '68 Firebird. :fap:

Bewitched was a crap show (though observers are correct that Elizabeth Montgomery was hotter than Barbara Eden).  The plots were painful and predictable, even to a kid.  Only Samantha's father had any redeeming qualities; Darrin was such a moron it was hard to care what happened to him, and Samantha's mother did the same fucking thing every single show.

I haven't seen these shows in decades, but I don't think I'd bother with Bewitched even if I could get it for free.  I'd be delighted to see some IDoJ, even though it has not, I am sure, aged well.

But Larry is coming over with a new client for dinner, and his ad campaign is so important to the firm you can lose your job if dinner is fucked up.

Don't forget about the very special Bewitched episode where Darrin stands up to a racist client.

I think there was a British one, thought she might have just been a ghost in some childrens programme.

Though we did have Emma Peel in the 60s who appeared to have special powers.   :bowler:

I kind of enjoyed Larry Tate and Doctor Bombay, too.  But, yeah, one of the problems with Bewitched was that for the most part, the best members of the supporting cast were either only semi-regulars or just appeared occassionally.  On I Dream of Jeannie, in contrast, Major Healey and Dr. Bellows were regulars, and if anything were actually funnier than the Jeannie and Major Nelson.

It wasn't, I saw it when I was older. Funny how Spanish TV, conversely, seemed to rerun Bewitched constantly.

We, did, however, have a Spanish version of I Dream of Jeannie. Remember "¡Ala...Dina!"? (I actually hope you don't).
