Wasn't Trump chummy with the Clintons? Could be he's torpedoing the GOP on purpose.

Lol, looks like Trump's VP really might be Newt. No one else wants the job.

I think he'll pick some general.  Someone with gravitas that won't have ideas for himself and just stand there looking pretty. I don't think Trump can stand sharing the limelight, and if he does he'll probably end up insulting his own guy.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

That Sessions guy could do it. And Lettow would be overjoyed.

Newt seems like the natural choice.  Eager for the job, abundant Cap Hill experience, geographic balance, not totally devoid of gravitas.

, not totally devoid of gravitas.

He's been making valiant efforts to rid himself of whatever semblances he ever might have possessed.

He is a good fit for Trump in being one of the few who could possible match him in self-regard.

And as exciting a VP candidate as Cheney.

He might buy Trump some DC cred (and even that will only be any good if/after he wins), but just about zero electoral boost.

Thing is, Dick Cheney was actually given credence as a competent and well-established insider and policy--a buttress, along with Powell and Rumsfeld, against Dubya the Boy Blunder coking his Administration away, before the dark times...before the empire.

Newt, people already know he's full of shit.  Hell, even his own party doesn't trust him;  he was RINO'd in 2012.

You would have to pick someone who is willing to caper about as Trump's monkey.  Is Newt so starved for attention that he'd sink that low?
