don't see the big deal about the violence, which has been pretty minimal. rallies are emotionally charged, and trump's supporters are mostly working class. it's like football rivals talking shit to one another. naturally there's going to be the occasional punch/roughhousing

Well you are an idiot.

why is the light violence we've seen at trump rallies a big deal?

Oh brother.

is it that there should be zero violence at political rallies? I mean, yeah, that's the goal, but trump is trashy and his fans are pretty trashy. I don't see that as being a big deal,* though

*anything resembling brownshirts or something similar

Yeah, there should be zero violence at political rallies. How is that even a question?

I've seen comments comparing this to hitler, when it's really dissimilar to hitler. it's not good, but I don't see how it's a big deal

Jaron

Do we really expect the poor to be non violent? It's the only real tool they have.
Winner of THE grumbler point.

I hope La Croix can tell us once more how it isn't a big deal. 4 times, pssh. But after 5, he'll have me convinced!

nah, my original post contains my argument (comparison to sporting events). the problem seems to be a misunderstanding re: how one defines "big deal."

Trump's slogan is "Make America great again".  I'm curious which countries are greater than the US.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Rioting after a sporting event is unacceptable behavior as well.

I don't mean rioting. have trump fans rioted? I mean the occasional news story you see, "X fan punched by Y fan after game." it's pretty common and understandable, even though it's bad behavior, but it's not indicative of fascist leanings or whatever. more trashy than anything, though like I said... trump is trashy, so it shouldn't be too surprising

Reading the story of the Gracchi brothers is a good place to start.   :)
