Of fuck, Ricky Martin endorsed her?  As a man who lives la vida loca, I have some soul-searching to do.

Trump has the endorsement of Charles in Charge.  :P

Wiki says she was endorsed by Rosie, Chaz, Ellen, Jesse  Tyler Ferguson, Zachary Quinto, Ricky Martin among others.

Oh ok.

Zachary Quinto is a total fool, by the way. I saw him once on Bill Maher. It's Ben Affleck's levels of idiocy.

I met him in person (he was involved with my uni a lot, for some reason). Seemed a very nice and down-to-heart bloke.

Doesn't change the fact that his politics is moronic. In fact, "being nice" and "having moronic politics" tend to go hand in hand more often than not. It's the whole "gutmensch" syndrome. :P

That's a good one.

Utah will probably go blue unless Cruz is the nominee. Trump is deeply unpopular here because of his treatment of Mitt Romney and his attacks on the LDS church.

No way. Utah will go blue right after DC goes red.

I think I know the politics of my own state a little better than you.

It'll be:

If Cruz is nominee: Red
Else: Blue

Oh Eddie... :contract:

Quote
SALT LAKE CITY — If Donald Trump becomes the Republican Party's nominee, Utahns would vote for a Democrat for president in November for the first time in more than 50 years, according to a new Deseret News/KSL poll.

"I believe Donald Trump could lose Utah. If you lose Utah as a Republican, there is no hope," said former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt, a top campaign adviser to the GOP's 2012 nominee, Mitt Romney.

The poll found that may well be true. Utah voters said they would reject Trump, the GOP frontrunner, whether former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is the Democratic candidate on the general election ballot.

While Clinton was only slightly ahead of Trump — 38 percent to 36 percent — Sanders, a self-declared Democratic socialist, holds a substantial lead — 48 percent to 37 percent over the billionaire businessman and reality TV star among likely Utah voters.

"Wow. Wow. That's surprising," said Chris Karpowitz, co-director of Brigham Young University's Center for the Study of Elections and Democracy. "Any matchup in which Democrats are competitive in the state of Utah is shocking."

Also surprising is the number of Utahns who said they wouldn't vote if Trump were on the ballot. Sixteen percent said they'd skip the election if Trump and Clinton were their ballot choices, while 9 percent said they wouldn't vote if it was a Trump-Sanders matchup.

Both Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich would beat either Democratic candidate in Utah, the poll found. Sanders came closest against Cruz, with 39 percent of Utahns backing Sanders to 53 percent for Cruz.
Winner of THE grumbler point.

I have a feeling we'll see hard data rather than polling numbers in 8 months.

Cruz is very popular in Utah and among Mormons in general.

Not only because he is religious, but because he is a strict constitutionalist and that appeals to Utah voters.
Winner of THE grumbler point.

Eddie Teach

Anyway, you should be saying "If Trump, blue, else red". Any "compromise" candidates coming out of the convention will be a lock. Romney, Ryan, Rubio, etc.

Jaron

I'm only listing realistic candidates. Trump will get the delegates for the nomination unless Cruz can pull an upset (which is possible).
Winner of THE grumbler point.

Valmy

Ok now I kind of want Trump to win just so I can one day tell my grandchildren I was there when Utah voted for the Democrats.

I mean that last happened when LBJ went all the way.

I'll take Jaron's word on this.  D.J. Trump has also led an exceptionally sinful life, personally and professionally, steeped in avarice and lust, profiting off of a massive casino enterprise, full of tobacco and alcohol sales as well as the obvious gambling, and not to mention the connection with prostitution among other forms of adultery (strip clubs).  How many good Mormons will pull the lever for this man?

I get the impression that Utah would vote for Hitler if Trump was the only other alternative.
