Meh we will see what things look like when we get to South Carolina.

Last poll I saw he was leading Carson by 20 points there.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Tim, polls are not all that predictive at this moment.  They're going to change a whole lot between now and after Iowa/New Hampshire.  Same time 8 years ago, Giuliani and Thompson were 1-2 in the polls.  How did that work out for them once voters actually started voting?

I'm not saying that Trump and Carson won't be relevant when voting starts, conservative movement certainly didn't get any saner in the last 8 years, but you should take a break from hyperventilating once in a while.

Guilliani was always behind in the early states and that's why he lost.

The long time leader in the polls usually wins. Romney, Kerry, Gore, W. and his father, Reagen, they all were on top of the polls at this time, had been for some time and won.

Rudy and Thompson were second and third this time 8 years ago in Iowa polls, behind Huckabee who everyone knew wasn't a serious candidate.  He lost because he never had a solid foundation, he only had name recognition.

Rudy lost because he stupidly wrote off Iowa and New Hampshire and he's a social liberal.

QuoteRepublican insiders have secretly hoped for months that Trump and Carson would collapse under the weight of their own incompetence, but that's not happening. And it's not going to happen either. Republican voters, to paraphrase Mencken, know what they want and are getting it good and hard. And what they want, it seems, are politically inept blowhards.

Be careful what you ask for, Fox News, because you might just get it.

The right wing has been waging war against rationality, reason, critical thinking, science, etc., etc. They've been creating a world vision where Christmas and Christians and white, middle class America is under attack because it draws ratings and makes them money.

They've created this, and now they are all surprised that they cannot control it?

How many of those guys had the whole party establishment lined up against them? Besides polling has changed in the past few years. Less people have home phones and even less people answer calls from weird numbers. Let me see a couple states vote before I start paying attention to your 'OMG EBOLA IS ABOUT TO WIPE OUT TEH WERLD!!111' type articles.

Further I do not recall everybody freaking the fuck out months before New Hampshire back in the 1980s.

I guess I better get used to saying "President Trump".  :(

Nah...Trump will never beat the democratic nominee. The ONLY way that happens is if the democratic nominee is engulfed in some sort of scandal, or is seen as some sort of radical.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

Whew that's a relief.

Honestly, I'm not sure Trump is worse than an establishment GOP candidate right now. All the elected officials have made stupid promises like never ever raising taxes for any reason and never compromising with Obama on anything. Sure, he's ratcheted up the rhetoric on illegal immigration, but isn't it a good thing that conservative groups like Club for Growth(sponsor of the "Freedom Caucus") don't like him? Perhaps his doing well isn't a sign that the electorate is crazier than the party.

And Jeb Bush has lost the crucial nerd vote:

QuoteJeb Bush: Supergirl is 'pretty hot'

North Las Vegas, Nevada (CNN)After nearly an hourlong discussion on serious policy, Jeb Bush was thrown a softball Wednesday night while speaking at an event in Las Vegas:

Who is your favorite Marvel superhero?

Bush was amused that he was being asked the question but struggled to come up with an immediate answer. And then, as he confessed after the fact, dug himself into a hole.

"I like watching the movies. I wish I owned Marvel, as someone that believes in capitalism," Bush said, speaking at the Libre Forum in North Las Vegas.

"I don't know, I'm kinda old school," he continued. "I like the old school guys like Batman, a little dark these days."

But then he kept going, saying that he saw an ad for the new CBS show "Supergirl" featuring former "Glee" actress Melissa Benoist.

"I saw it when I was working out this morning," he said. "She looked kinda ... she looked pretty hot. I don't know which channel it's on, but I'm looking forward to that."

He paused, letting the audience laugh, then added: "That'll make news."

Supergirl, it should be noted, is a character from Marvel's rival comic universe DC, as is Batman.

"The Punisher" was the correct answer, Jeb.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

I'm voting Jim Webb in '16. I want a grumpy bastard in office.

It might create a row if he killed the President of France on account he was a "Communiss".
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
