So he's going Jonestown now?

Yes, I thought, "oh he's forming his own cult now".

I hope there's a reality show about this, should be hilarious watching all those librarytarians/teabaggers failing to agree on anything or give even an inch to each other, in their quest to build a rural/fairyland idyll.

Maybe he'll go the Bioshock/Rapture route and become an authoritarian figure out of necessity?

Maybe, but it'll be hilarious either way.

Oh and I'm not condemning this section of the American right as being particularly asocial; of the distinct groups I've met who might aspire to these separatist utopias,  I think they're all pretty much of a similar, inept quality that are doomed to fail, be it this lot, the Occupiers movement, the hard left anarchists or right on liberal/socialist would-be commune dwellers.

Well to be fair that is how all these utopian communities usually go.

Indeed, see my above post.

Just my version of O'Sullivan's law in action. Any idealistic organization, movement or project will be taken over by radicals.
First Maxim - "There are only two amounts, too few and enough."
First Corollary - "You cannot have too many soldiers, only too few supplies."
Second Maxim - "Be willing to exchange a bad idea for a good one."
Second Corollary - "You can only be wrong or agree with me."

A terrorist which starts a slaughter quoting Locke, Burke and Mill has completely missed the point.
The fact remains that the only person or group to applaud the Norway massacre are random Islamists.

Alternatively idealist don't tend to be practical people ?

This gun company only makes ARs and 1911s. I wonder how much money an operation like that would actually make.

Also, if I lived there, I'd take over by manipulating the paranoid masses to my banner. Beck would not rule it.  :P

The AR has become an entire universe of firearms unto itself.  Lots of money to be made there.  In the past 10-15 years many successful companies have sprung up making only AR pattern rifles or even just specific parts or accessories.  Custom 1911s are a big business as well.

But looking at their website, bleh, I'll pass.  Tacky slogans and imagery on overpriced firearms.

You'd have your work cut out for you.  Kinda tough to out-Beck Beck himself.

Is he going to build it in a state with an Orc problem?

Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
