For dogs just as in humans the mongrels are hardier than assclown yokel purebreds such as yourself.
Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son

I'm not a big fan of genetic disorders due to inbreeding. :contract:

My parents, for example, are all into dog eugenics to a Nazi-like extreme, and insisted on a purebred Old English Sheepdog.  That damn dog needed TWO hip replacements, to the tune of $5K, due to hip dysplasia.  Now they have two purebred Yorkies and I know the female has some weird issues due to inbreeding as well, but I forget what exactly.

Proper eugenics doesn't necessitate inbreeding or genetic defects. My parents have a Yorkie aswell, and his only issues are a fierce temper and an insatiable appetite for liver paté, both which I suspect my old man taught him.  :P

 Dogs that little almost always have horrible personalities.  I don't mind smallish dogs like corgis and dachsunds and the like, but if you get any smaller you've crossed into crazy person territory.

:D

His fierce temper mainly manifests in being very insistent about keeping proper routine, and he gets irritated if we stay up too late or stray past his designated walk-hour. Not to mention forgetting to give him a slice of cheese after his evening walk.

Methinks you generalize too much.  :P

We've had small dogs, and they've all been very nice.
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Do Yuros not have pound dogs?

Of the names, Duke is the only one that doesn't make me laugh.  Churchill doesn't work but Winson would.

A buddy of mine named his Golden Retriever Nixon. :bleeding:

That's usually becasue they're hyper active dogs to began with and they belong to lazy people who don't walk them, so you start getting dogs with personality disorders.

Now where they are annoying is most are yappers.
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Yep, that would be my parents.

MOM and DAD: "We're going to groom this Old English Sheepdog three times a week and walk it daily!"

The reality: Groomed like once every six months (always professionally), walked never, except by Princesca once (and in reality the dog basically walked her).

Pugs are pretty small and have awesome personalities.  Of course, they're also filled with genetic defects and die like flies.
