I remember that this was finally going to be released, so I checked today.  It will be released in about 15 minutes.  So if you are interested you may want to download it.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The Countdown ended and the site crashed.

Im having fun with it, but not as much as I thought I would. The military parts seems shorter than I remembered and the escort/support bits are even shorter and useless.

A well, looking up old HL graphics makes me really appreciate their hard work. It looks awesome.

I admire their effort but I'll probably never play it. I already beat the original four times and I don't see a reason to play through it again just to satisfy a bit of nostalgia. I imagine it'll get a lot of play from folks who never played it though. Maybe some of the younger folks who were four or five when Half Life came out.

I'm having fun with it.  They have changed some things which has thrown me off.  I kept thinking "Shouldn't I have my crowbar by now?", or "isn't this the room I get the shotgun?  Why don't you have a shotgun?".  Two major downsides.  I don't remember so many useless doors.  Doors that can't be opened and are just part of the scenery.  For some reason that bothers me.  Kinda reminds me that it's an old game and not as expansive as modern games.  Second, the loading time between level chunks are a little on the long side.  I guess as a minor aside, I thought the first game was was genuinely scary when it came out.  Many of the elements that creeped me out back in 1997 don't work anymore since they've become staples.  Also I kinda remember where everything is.  I played the fuck out of Half-life back in the day.  It was the first FPS I actually really liked.

Still, since the mod is free and you don't even have to own the base Half-life 2 to play it, I really shouldn't complain about it.  And I certainly played worse games that are far more recent.  I played Call of Duty Black Ops last month on my new PC (I had it, but couldn't play it on my old one).  After completing the single player game, my impression was "What the fuck is this was this bullshit?"
