I was three at the time of the moon landings. And while I don't remember it at all, strangely I do remember watching the module return to earth.

Anywyas, one for the history books.  :(

I can barely, barely remember the Soyuz-Apollo docking thing, way back around kindergarten.  I remember posters about it all over the school, and my Dad bought us an Soyuz-Apollo model that he put together.

I was 12 when that first moon landing occurred. I had spent the previous 4 years preparing for it by reading countless books about the Apollo program

The attitude back in those days, the aura around science and technology, was that this was the first step in mankind's exploration of the Universe.............it turns out that was the high water mark..........technology took a different turn and we ended up talking crap to other people all around the world via a variety of innovative media  :hmm:

Anyways, a hero of mine, can't believe he was 82 years old.

I can remember when the Challenger blew up.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

It's kind of interesting that by the time Kevin Bacon blew up Apollo XIII there had only been two moon landings but already the public was bored.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

I fully expected Siege to post something stupid and then Siege to give him a mandatory "break".

That was an oxygen tank, Mr. Haise.

I can remember when the Challenger blew up.

I was in typing class and heard the news over the school PA system.  Junior in high school I believe.

And yes, on typewriters.

I was five at the time.  I'm now 31 in case you don't feel old enough. :D

I think I vaguely remember the excitement over the first space shuttle going up.  I was 5-6 or so, but definitely loved space.

Little Tim always excitedly points at the moon whenever he sees it.

I think Big Tim does that as well.
