Bioware finally officially gave up on Anthem. No more development and they will focus on Dragon Age/Mass Effect/SWTOR.

Anthem subreddit is in a bit of an uproar right now.

That game was hopeless anyway. I guess Dragon Age and whatever Mass Effect stuff they have in development are Bioware's last hope.

There was a Twitter post out there from some game journo that said because of Anthem's massive failure and recent success with single-player games like Fallen Jedi, they are allowing the new Dragon Age to be developed as a strictly single-player experience.

Yes, literally a day later EA is letting Bioware develop DA4 as single-player only. So I guess Anthem didn't die for nothing!

Nice, because I am strongly disinclined to play multiplayer games.

The google algorithm has proposed to me Kingdoms Reborn let's plays. It looks interesting. A mix of civ, anno & banished.

Did you try that one CC?

It is in my wishlist  :)

I am trying (and generally failing) to avoid playing early access games.  If my willpower crumbles and I get this, I will report back.

It looks very good.

I am amazed another trend chasing shitty EA idea failed miserably.

Bioware now will rest on its laurels, we'll see how it goes.

The makers of Euro and American Truck Sim have revealed their next DLCs.

ETS has the Iberia DLC coming soon. After that, it will be "Heart of Russia" which will expand the map to Moscow.

ATS, meanwhile will release Wyoming soon. After that: Texas. Currently in game: Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.

With the size of Texas, I kinda hope that after that they will try to expand with similarly sized chunks of territory, e.g. bundling 2 or 3 states into one DLC going forward; else this will take a long time to finish. :P

The Paradox livestream is not showing big news. More content for Stellaris on console, bit of info about the next Stellaris expansion on PC, Surviving Mars will get a free update next week, and more DLC is being developed, Empire of Sin info ... and chat is a microcosm of what you see on the forums. "Fuck [game being shown], where's [other game]!" "Fix [game]!" "Where's Vic3!!" Etc. In between a few people who are happy to get some info on the games they like.

Also, virtual PDXCON in May, with a new Paradox title to be revealed then.

I think the games are less about recreating places, but rather sense of place, and - more importantly - the space (highways and country roads) between places.

I didn't feel great today, so I re-installed ATS and drove around New Mexico and Colorado while listening to local radio stations (bit of country, but of talk radio, bit of oldies/classic rock stations etc.).

I missed that Curious Expedition 2 has come out. The game has traded its pixel look from the previous release to something more of a Hergé/Tin Tin style:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1040230/Curious_Expedition_2/?curator_clanid=33526

QuoteCurious Expedition 2 is a turn-based narrative roguelike that requires players to manage their resources and party members to keep insanity at bay and find glory.

A grand discovery has been made: mysterious islands have begun to appear and vanish from the oceans as if by magic. The great Explorer Clubs are funding expeditions to these strange islands to bring treasures back for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. Are you bold enough to join the adventure?

- Manage your resources to keep your trek alive and sanity high. Balance greed against your survival needs to find glory without perishing.
- Procedural storytelling makes every adventure unique. Your characters form relationships, change loyalty, acquire illnesses, and more in response to the environment and your decisions.
- Embark on an epic campaign that combines procedural gameplay with handcrafted story to create a narrative experience that can be played again and again.

One thing I'm not getting amidst flight sim and truck sim and their impressive realistic graphics and weak gameplay (not the point, I know) is why can't a more active game do the same?
When you have games set in real world cities they're usually shrunken and altered versions.
