No idea what the time frame is on that though, but it is a neat idea.

Same group that did the Decisive Campaigns series as well, so it's in good hands.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Indeed, that alone was enough to pretty much get my onboard. Interesting topic I like, and a group that has already executed some damn good games...

Shadow Empire looks like it will be great.  I think I will wait to hear what Berkut thinks of Warplan before buying.

Humankind is definitely something I will be looking at when it is released.

Thanks to both of you for noting them  :)

Indeed.  Though I can't help thinking something like a Roadwar 2000 mod could make it even better.  :)

Doesn't seem right that I see a whole bunch of games there that are sold on Steam or GOG.

Why not?  All the GoG/Steam folks do is make them work and sell them for $5.  You can get them for free, like they did, and make them (maybe) work yourself.

Is coming out this month. I am interested primarily because if the designers dev diaries. He has the right mindset, in that he looks at a game like this as a set of interesting and/or difficult choices, and how to present them to the player.

Preview gameplay stream (about 2.5 hours).

I've started playing the RPG Disco Elysium. It's bonkers, in a good way. And your skills keep talking to you. It kinda feels like playing Hunter S. Thompson/Raoul Duke. I had a discussion with my garish tie (it wanted me to do bad things), and my character has determined that he will have to sing karaoke in the shitty hotel lounge at some point.

Not overly deep or complex, but also not overly expensive (Mao is the most expensive standalone).

In short: AI handles combat well, but is not good at the strategic level.
