Gallup did a poll on a number of moral issues, and how acceptable they are in the eyes of Americans.

Of the issues examined, birth control is the most accepted (by 87% of Republicans, 89% of Independents and 90% of Democrats), while married men and women having affairs the least accepted (by 3% of Republicans, 10% of Independents, and 8% of Democrats).

Doctor assisted suicide is seen as more morally acceptable than abortion, but both of those are less acceptable than gay or lesbian relationships or the death penalty.

No mention of progressive taxation or other economic issues...

Yeah, we've had this discussion before.  It's my position that if you believe something is wrong, and yet you still do it, that just proves that you're a flawed human being.  If you're willing to acknowledge that it's wrong, even when it's you that does it, that doesn't make you a hypocrite.  You're a hypocrite when you say it's wrong when other people do it, but OK for you to do it.

Well it's implied that the survey is about public morals, after all very few of us will ever get to clone animals, have an abortion (less so), have a same sex marriage, etc.

Well it's implied that the survey is about public morals, after all very few of us will ever get to clone animals, have an abortion (less so), have a same sex marriage, etc.

When cars are lined up in the turning lane, I think it is wrong to cut in line by driving to just before the turn and then cutting in front of someone not paying attention. I would even say so in a survey.

Tomorrow if I am running late, I will probably do that anyway.
