If only there was a German word for schadenfreude.
I didn't watch the game, but in Vienna you usually hear when goals are scored against the German team because there's a collective cheer/jeer as if Austria had just won the tournament.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

For the finals, I think Spain is the favorite in terms of pre-championship predictions, but considering what Italy has shown so far Spain may prove too defensive.

Btw, funny to see two teams from the group stage meet again, and they are not from the "group of death" either.  :D

This has really been the championship of surprises. Only if Spain wins it may be seen as somewhat predictable in the end.

Do list the surprises please. Dutch being shite? Well yeah that was one. Polacks and Russians lazy-ing away their chance to proceed from their group? Hardly. Italy defeating Germany? Not one bit.

If you let someone handcuff you, and put a rope around your neck, don't act all surprised if they hang you!

- Eyal Yanilov.

Forget about winning and losing; forget about pride and pain. Let your opponent graze your skin and you smash into his flesh; let him smash into your flesh and you fracture his bones; let him fracture your bones and you take his life. Do not be concerned with escaping safely - lay your life before him.

Btw, considering this resort I am in right now is full of Krauts, what's German for "Your tears are delicious"?

Well I don't know German but google translate gave me this:

Ich möchte Ihre Füße in meinen Mund stecken

:P
