Heh, Cuba will lost many Cubans, but gain from all the American Che Guevara wannabes that will flock there!   ;)

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

American politics with regards to Cuba are retarded and have been for some time, its just part of the broken American system. This is known. But meh. They don't need the US, if Europe and Canada get friendlier with a reforming Cuba then thats good enough.

The comment by Parliament Chief Ricardo Alarcon has residents, exiles and policymakers abuzz with speculation that the much-hated exit visa could be a thing of the past, even if Raul Castro's government continues to limit the travel of doctors, scientists, military personnel and others in sensitive roles to prevent a brain drain.
This seems a bit weird to me...I wonder if there'll be a decrease in people wanting to train as doctors- the idea being they'll flee abroad THEN get their doctoral training....if they even do, many other jobs in the west earning more than Cuban doctors.

Agreed there. US policy is way out of date. Could probably have been currying favor with Cuba a lot more over the years, slowing/stopping them  from feeling the need to be so friendly with Hugo Chavez types.

Many jobs in the west?  I think they make like 40 bucks a month.

The NPR report this afternoon said $20.

Tyr's "broken American system" can't compare to that, surely.  Unless Tyr is a moron, of course.

Cuban doctors moonlight by driving cabs in order to scrape together a living.  How messed up is that.

America has stupid policies means Cuba has good policies?

Doctors on the whole benefit from America's stupid policies.

I rather like that.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Smarter move would be Cuban doctors moonlighting as an owner/operator ambalance driver.

Really?  I'd rather be treated by a doctor who wasn't all worn out from having a second job & wasn't overly distracted by financial problems.
