I've been re-watching Voyager (I don't think I ever saw it all ^_^)

The Tuvix episode continues to be so haunting. :weep:

The plus side of new trek is that it's made me reevaluate voyager. I still think it's the weakest of the middle trek, but it seems better in comparison. Captain janeway still sucks though :P

Last week's episode of Academy was decent, though the stylistic choice was ... something. And the comedy b-plot was a bit eh.

This week's episode was a tonal whiplash compared to the overall wholesome previous episodes. Paul Giamatti and Holly Hunter's scenes together were awesome. Giamatti just steals every scene he's in.

EDIT: I think the main cast is generally quite good. They have a good chemistry with each other which I think is key to so many ensemble shows.

So, I fancy some Star Trek.

Not counting Academy, these are the only shows that I have never watched, or watched only a handful episodes of:

- Voyager
- Enterprise
- Strange New Worlds (season 1 only, it just didn't quite work for me despite how beloved it seems to be)
- Lower Decks
- Prodigy

Which one should be #1 on my list? Voyager?

Alternatively, I'm of half a mind of rewatching TNG, but I'd rather watch something new.

My list goes

Lower decks
Enterprise (gets better after the first season
Strange new worlds
Voyager
Prodigy (didn't finish so could get better)

*edit* as for lower decks, it's more kind of trek adjacent so may or may not appeal. It has the spirit and lots of fan server but it is a cartoon after all.

I think I might say something similar on enjoyment but I think I'd say different order for scratching Trek itch.

I'd go:
Strange New Worlds
Voyager
Enterprise
Lower Decks
(Didn't watch Prodigy bar maybe part of one episode)

SNW is probably best of the modern era. I give Voyager a little leg up on Enterprise for nostalgic feel of 90s Trek (with also negatives that includes)* whereas Enterprise sits on the boundaries of the transition into modern TV with half focused on connected story. Worth watching in my mind but different.

I also liked Lower Decks a lot too but I think furthest of all those from itch that TNG could scratch.

*I'll admit I'm also biased to it, as it is the primary one I watched with my father growing up. That and B5. :)

Fair point. On "trekness" I'd give the edge to voyager over enterprise, yeah. Enterprise took a bit to get off its feet and being a creation type series its trekness builds.

No DS9 love?  If you liked B5 I would have thought DS9 would come in first or second on that list.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

Only out of cel's list of ones he hasn't watched.  Agreed DS9 and TNG would be up near the top.

I watched DS9 for the first time a few years ago (only the first season was shown over here in its original run) and quickly shot up to my list of favorite shows of all time. It's fantastic.

That's why I eventually want to rewatch TNG as an adult, and see how it compares.

Like most trek TNGs first season was... trying. But I think it has the best series ending episode(s) of all the trek shows. Perhaps any show. Enterprise, sadly, has one of the worst. But yes, I think you should rewatch TNG. I think it holds up well.
