Watched some DS9 last night. It struck me that the show started over 30 years ago.

Hubris must be punished. Severely.

It struck you....as in watching it you realise "Man the filming and stylistic decisions made here are really dated. You can tell how old it is." or it struck you as in you suddenly feel old and mortal?

It's a shame Lower Decks is ending.

On the one hand it's a cartoon - they could run that show seemingly forever.

But on the other hand was one of the nice things about it was that they gave character arcs to the characters, but as they've all become more fully rounded characters there's not really anywhere else for them to go - and presumably at some point they just aren't lower deckers anymore.

On  amore general point it seems clear there's no one "in charge" of the brand, and hasn't been for a long time.  Originally you had Roddenberry of course, then later on Rick Berman.  So instead you've had several pretty strong changes in directions - from the Kelvin timeline films, to going animated, to the Disco and Picard - but none of them really fit in together in any coherent way.  And now of course they're doing it again.

Discovery and Lower Decks are ending, Strange New Worlds will continue. A Paramount+ movie(District 31) and a new show(Starfleet Academy) will replace them in 2025.

There are also theatrical movies rumors.

Fair enough, the Section 31 project has been around for so long that I assumed it was a zombie project by this point.

Video trying to adjudicate the ages-old question: who's the most miserable character in Star Trek?

According to the video's author - surprisingly - it's not O'Brien, but Worf.

Odd there's been zero commentary on Discovery this final season. Did we need musical numbers?

So still bad but less bad would be my take away if no one is talking about it :D

I guess.  I found myself struggling to stay awake through most episodes.

And not sure what the point of the epilogue was

I thought it was all right. Not great, but not terrible. 6.5 to 7, in my book.

EDIT: I like scavenger treasure hunts, and though over the top, I liked the addition of the Breen.

Prodigy Season 2 on Netflix.

Overall really enjoyed it, with some nostalgia bait (but not too much). It suffers IMHO from the same problem as Season 1 in that the first few episodes feel a bit rough, and Dal seems to have regressed a bit in his development (though fortunately that changes about half way through).

Nice to have Robert Picardo and Robert Beltran back, plus surprise guests. Second half of the season picked up considerably, though the overall plot seemed a bit stretched out and go in circles a little.

It ends at the time of the synth uprising on Mars (Picard S1), adding a bit of a dark note at the end. S3 will probably not be made, but I feel like they finish at a good point: the overarching plot of S1+2 is fully wrapped up now (though I have some questions re: time travel shenanigans and how they work out, but ... eh, time travel and Trek are always messy :P ). But it also leaves a couple open questions to pursue in a follow up if someone (Netflix?) wants to poour more money into it.

Voice cast across the show was great, I thought. Really enjoyed Kate Mulgrew, Robert Picardo (seemed a bit wooden at first but got into it more in subsequent episodes), Ella Purnell, Angus Imrie, Robert Noble, Jason Mantzoukas, [redacted], and Jameela Jamil. Ronny Cox as Jellico is still incredibly punchable. :D

Keep in mind, though, that it's still a kids show, so there'll be some cutesy and goofy stuff. It's not The Bad Batch or later seasons of Clone Wars. It does get a bit dark and serious at times but it's still aimed primarily at a young audience, so temper expectations accordingly.

Reached the end of the second season of prodigy and I'll second syt's opinion.

I do hope they'll get another season. I also hope the Voyager crew gets its movie. Might be fun to have a stint with their older, wiser version.

Lower decks is back, shame it's the last season.
