One thing I haven't figured out is how to gain the knowledge needed to go on quests.

You either sacrifice to the relevant deity (keep selecting 'mysteries') or ask other tribes for to tell you their version of the story.

Ok, that's what I've been doing, but is there a way to ask for information about a particular story?

Nope, just have to sacrifice to the specific god and hope he gives you the info.

What about asking other tribes?

I think they also give you a random piece of info. Might even be one you already know.

They can also make shit up when they dont know. You can get this as an event from the other side when another clan asks. Lieing to them and having them go on a quests and they fail because of that makes them rather perturbed.
