ISLAMABAD -- An avalanche buried about 130 Pakistani soldiers near the Siachen glacier on the border with India, officials told NBC News on Saturday. A rescue operation was under way.

The fate of the soldiers was unclear.

A military official confirmed to NBC News that "130 soldiers have been buried alive as a huge snow avalanche fell on them in Giyari Siachin. The rescue operation is continuing."

Earlier there were reports that 150 soldiers had been caught in the snow.

Thousands of Pakistani and Indian troops are based in the area, a security official told The Associated Press. The official said snow engulfed a battalion headquarters in Gayari district.

Siachen is on the northern tip of the divided Kashmir region claimed by both India and Pakistan.

Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Not good writers, but better ones.

Good writers would have said "Chill, dudes."

It is specifically not natural. It is anthropogenic - created by man.

BTW, does this mean you accept biological evolution?

Exceptional claims require exceptional evidence.
Prove it!!!

It's no so exceptional. Put a lot of CO2 in the atmosphere and you're going to get a greenhouse effect.
