Languish awareness and your "real world" environment

Do you find that Languish makes you much more aware of what's happening in the world than your typical co-workers and friends "in real life"? For all its silliness, Languish seems to have a knack for really delving deep into some of the issues discussed here - I find it quite annoying that most people here in Poland seem to have a much more superficial understanding of especially political issues (if any at all).

I wonder if this is just a Polish thing (admittedly the majority of issues discussed here on Languish focuses on the Anglo-Saxon world) or do you experience this as well.

It's not exclusive to Languish but yes, most people around me have little interest in things like politics.

Definitely.  I am an electrician (sort of) so I spend a lot of time on construction sites.  It is pretty amusing to read an informed discussion like the one here on the health care law then go to work and listen to some fucking sheetrocker preach that the Supreme Court has to overturn the law because it is socialism and socialism is against the Constitution.
