Attack hits Turkish wedding party

Forty-one people have been killed in an attack on a wedding party in south-eastern Turkey, local media say.

Turkey's NTV reported the death toll, citing a deputy governor. He said the assailants were carrying bombs and automatic weapons.

It was not immediately clear who carried out the attack, which reports said happened in or near the town of Mardin. Details are still emerging.

Government troops have been fighting Kurdish rebels in the area.

The rebels have been battling for more autonomy since 1984. More than 40,000 people have died in the violence.

Several people were reported to have been wounded in Monday's attack.

Why haven't the Turks done the right thing and pushed the Kurds into Iraq?

Doubt the Kurds will fall for the old Hike-Into-Syrian Desert tricke.  Too involved in the first time that worked.   <_<

This could have been anyone.  Mardin is a pretty mixed area.

Why? So we have to deal with them in Iraq?

On the other hand, if the turks do that, then Israel can do the same with the pals.

I'm glad we have given them freedom.  I'd hate to think of what the PKK would do if they didn't have that nice secure area in Northern Iraq to build democracy in.
