So I just got a spinning rod today, and previously had a spincaster that annoyed the shit out of me.  I'm curious what other people use.

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Spinning is much easier on newbies.

Spincasting isn't so easy & you have to remember waht to do.

I prefer Spincasting, always felt more natural & more fun, less automatic.

Maximus

I've always only used spincasting so can't comment on the others.

You sure you don't have these backwards?

Grey Fox

Maybe.

Isn't spinning, the press the button one?

Fly rod as it takes the most skill and is the most natural.

Should also add... if you're on a lake then spin rod makes the most sense but if you're on a river or creek, fly rod all the way.

I just got a spinning reel.  I kind alike it, though it took some practice, having grown with a spincaster.  The spincaster tended to jam up, while the spinning hasn't yet.

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

I think last time I went fishing, I used a bamboo pole with no reel at all.

Is it called fishing when you order it off of a menu?
