There is a difference between legitimacy among your colleagues/followers (or the power structure that put you into power, i.e. for Stalin, the Communist Party) and among the general population.

Stalin and Putin had/have plenty of the first, the other is less certain.

I have a couple Russians that moved in next door to me.  I would like them to die in a revolution.
Or maybe they're Byelo or Ukranian.  I dunno.  But they're filthy subhuman pigs.

Russians are like anyone else...every culture/society/nation seems to have a voluntarily undesirable element.

We have our white trash, they have guys in gold chains and Adidas track suits.

But there are also decent, pleasant folk.

What's wrong with the track suits? They're very practical, they go with any occasion.

I know, I committed one of the deadly Languish sins, in not using "sub-human' when referring to Russians.
