I fail to see why anyone would be bothered by the faction switch whatsoever. 

If you are not into some heavy roleplaying it doesn't affect your gameplay at all. I am confused why anyone would have any problem with this.

That's retarded. Leveling is a joke these days, and if you don't want ganking, just level a character on a PvE server and transfer them to PvP.

Any of these "In my day..." and "Kids these days. I had to wade through snow to get to school..." arguments are pretty idiotic.

We are not talking here about giving a fresh player a level 80 character, but allowing people who already are familiar with the game to experience more content without having to grind through the same stuff again if they don't want to.

The benefits of cross faction transfers (desire to play with friends who rolled the opposite faction, desire to experience new content, desire to change due to server population imbalance) are quite clear and clearly outweigh whining of misantrophic cretins.

It's not at all clear that that would be a benefit, the ability to switch factions could exacerbate server imbalances.

Afaik they don't allow server transfers to overpopulated servers, this make me believe that they will not allow faction changes to an oversized faction. Hopefully.

I doubt it would matter anyways. They will likely cost 25 dollars, and I don't see hordes of people only transferring from one faction to another.

I am sure some will switch horde to alliance and alliance to horde, but not in big enough numbers to tip server stats.
