My beloved Cesaria Evora is dead!

She who was known as the 'barefoot diva' ( http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118047669.html?cmpid=RSS|News|LatestNews ).

"Evora, known to her close friends as Cize (pronounced see-ZEH), was the best-known performer of "morna," Cape Verde's national music. It is a complex, soulful sound, mixing an array of influences arising from the African and seafaring traditions of the 10 volcanic islands."

I *love* that sound - the mourning and nostalgia embedded in it.  And she was the greatest in the genre.  Here are some samples.

How did you come by this appreciation of the music of Cape Verde?  :hmm:
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

I am many things beside whatever else you people think I am...  I saw Cesaria live in Quebec City in the mid-90s - her voice was so sultry yet so mournful...

You do realize that she wasn't white, right?
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

If we have that impression who is to blame but yourself?

I wasn't implying that I found it uncharacteristic.
