I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The School Board and the PTA has way too much power in most places. [/quote]

The PTA I can kind of agree with, but the school board is the body charged with running the school--what do you mean they have too much power?

Part of the problem is that School Boards tend to consist of the stupidest motherfuckers on the planet.

True, we should make teachers ineligible to serve on them.

I disagree. One wonders with all the potential legitimate actresses who could read, why bring her? This sort of thing is normally reserved for First Lady's or more prominent celebs. Even the so-called legit movies she's been in haven't exactly kid fodder. So, again..why her? She isn't that well know at all outside of porn. Any inquisiitve Grade 3 student would then go home and google image her. "She must be somebody famous," said kid wonders. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever and who ever picked her knew it would only elicit outrage and a couple pages of languish debate.
A really poor choice.

Depends how much fuss is made. If she's reading to a single class and there's no mention of her career, there'd be little reason to bother. Course, I didn't have google in 3rd grade, maybe today's kids are google searching every name they hear.  :hmm:

I don't think that's exactly what I'm saying.

Rather there are certain wives who see it as a betrayal if their husband ever thinks of another woman sexually.

Deluded, crazy women?  Are there still a lot of those left?

Anyway, Sasha Grey's pretty great, and has struck me as a pretty straightforward person.  I'm glad she's still getting mainstream acting work after The Girlfriend Experience, which is one of the most boring movies in the history of time, but this is not attributable to her.

Did she use her screen name for the project?  Well, in any event, I'd rather Sasha Grey read to my kids than, say, Tom Cruise.

I don't know if Sasha Grey is her real name or not, but I'm sure her real name would connect to her porn name if people went hunting.

Fair enough.  Wiki has it listed as Marina Ann Hantzis.
Your average Grade 3 student in the US wouldn't be able to spell that.

You are confusing School board with PTA.

Your average Grade 3 student in the US wouldn't be able to spell Sasha either. Except google is rather helpful in these matters.  ;)

Uhm, no.

Considering the elementary school was in Compton, I would think there'd be more pressing issues than former porn stars reading to kids.
