I have to say I liked the Republic (Coruscant) homeworld a lot better than the Sith one (Dromund Kaas). I mean, seriously, for an Empire built on slave labour they have appallingly bad infrastructure. Not even an autobahn between the main spaceport and the capital, but only a mud path, overrun by predatory animals. Efficient, the Sith are not. Instead they build more giant statues.

And the weather is depressing.

My Juggernaut has finally gotten some tanking skills, so I can at last hold some aggro. I hope I get to do Hammer Station today. I think I may need to do flashpoints a bit more often; my gear progression is horribly slow. I've finally replaced my main armor that I've had since level 9 or so (I'm now 15) with something more than twice as good . . . from the auction hall.

OK, so I have Divhur a Sith Warrior on Kaas City and Jehszi a Jedi Consular on Goresh or whatever that server Beebs mentioned is called. Helm of Guarosh?

I now have my own ship. And I love the protocol droid assigned to it, grovelling as it is. "I've cleaned the fuel injectors to the hyperdrive. You will find that it enhances performance by .000008%!"

Thats the one.  Helm of Graush.

I'll be on tonight again I'm sure.  I played a bit this morning.  The game is good about getting you right into the action, but there's a big lull when you hit the capital, and you have to make all these decisions about advanced class, skill trees, and crafting.  Took over an hour to get everything sorted out.

I ran Esseles last night with one other person and our companions.  Wasn't all that difficult to manage.  And it was fun.

Berk, could you post a list of servers people will be/are playing on in the first post so everybody knows?

You know, I normally like soloing in MMOs. Group quests would sit unfinished in my quest log until I've overshot them, levelwise, and there's a good chance I just drop them later on.

So far I've done all group quests in TOR on Korriban and Dromund Kaas, and have a great time doing them, even though with PUGs (remains to be seen if it remains fun when the floodgates open on the 20th).

We tried taking down Hammer Station yesterday, but we kept wiping on the final boss. Quite possibly a group cmposition problem. I was tanking, an Operative was healing (he was only level 16), an assassin for DPS and - and this was probably the problem - another tank. The final boss should be easy enough (stay away from the red circles and his blaster cone of death, kill his low level adds quickly), but we couldn't kill things fast enough.

You know, I've usually had good experiences with PUGs in MMOs, although usually there're at least one or two players from military backgrounds who help keep everything together.  Makes one appreciate why command/leadership skills usually offer a boost in MMOs. :D

Got it. downloading now and got my email about an hour after purchase. I foresee much like my WoW, Heros, and STO experience i'll get bored in a month or so. but a few bucks for a month of time wasting is agood exchange, i think.

The fact that there are queues for their servers already does not bode well. Oops.

That's actually a surprisingly easy fix.  That alone tells me there's probably going to be enough money to get a new server or two in pretty short order.

Not necessarily.

Indeed, it is perhaps a positive omen, not the reverse.

On server queues:

http://www.swtor.com/blog/regarding-server-queues

QuoteWe know there have been questions about the queues on the servers, so we wanted to take a moment to give you some insight.

In order to ensure that the service would be smooth and stable, we staged how we brought people into the Early Game Access program, adding people in waves. As you know, there are a lot of folks who want to play the game right now and we want to make sure they have lots of people to play with. Balancing this with figuring out when to bring new servers online to help alleviate the size of the queues is part art and part science. On one hand, you do not want people to wait too long – on the other hand, you want to make sure that people have a dynamic, engaging community to play with for long after launch. Either way, we have one clear objective – to make sure folks have fun.

While we can't promise that there won't ever be queues, we can promise you that we are taking this matter seriously and constantly reviewing them to make sure that they are manageable and reasonable.

I think they're going a "best of both worlds" approach. Instanced zones to avoid overcrowding, while creating servers that have a distinct user base (instead of lumping them all together).

I'm struggling a bit to find a guild. The ones I find interesting seem to be hardcore RP who focus on RPing only, and don't plan to focus much on game story progression. Other seem too casual.

I looked up where the server name "Trask Ulgo" comes from, btw. It's the tutorial character at the start of KotOR.

Syt, I am on the English RP server as well, but on the Republic side, with a Scoundrel. Ribers or something like that his name is.

I hate queues. Fun game though.

But I am second-guessing that I should have rolled an Imperial Agent/Assasin, as they appear to be basically the same class as the Scoundrel, and I like snipery things.

The Scoundrel appears to be great for soloing though. (not that it hard to solo anyways). You do damage, you can disable stuff, and you can heal, while your companion can tank. Nice.
