If you really want to get nerdy, what about the following ST captains:

Spock (Enterprise)
Sulu (Excelsior)
Decker (Enterprise) - though no, he isn't manly at all
Pike (Enterprise)
Harriman (Enterprise B)
Garrett (Enterprise C)
Esteban (Grissom - explored Genesis Planet)
Robau (USS Kelvin - the new movie wasn't all that bad)
Terrell (Reliant - so badass he killed himself rather than let the eel control his movements)
Pressman (Pegasus - so manly he defied starfleet command and his own crew to develop cloaking technology)

I had to confirm some, but not all, of these names... :nerd:

Agelastus

Sisko; he was willing to work with Garak. :menace:

Not to mention that he could just exude a combination of menace and command presence when needed; Kirk was a steroidal playboy by comparison.

Kirk is a warrior, Picard is a manager.

Neil

They were all different kinds of men.  Kirk was the frontiersman, Picard was the manager who had any situation under control, Sisko was a military man.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

I would say Picard.  Kirk is a little bit too flamboyant.  Picard is so manly he doesn't even bother to have hair on his head.  The only problem here is his French heritage, but I like to think that by the 24th century France might have won a war or two and therefore redeemed itself.

Then why do they speak English?

Caliga

They do? I just assumed everyone was wearing a babel fish. :nerd:

You forgot he was the ranking officer about the Galileo, an episode that WAS a clinic on leadership, and one of the great McCoy-Spock antagonisms of all time.

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.
