In the good old days you just needed to say "loose lips sink ships" and everyone would nod their head in agreement.

Siege doesn't understand naval metaphors.  :P

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

It's a portable radio that can swap across over a hundred channels per second.  Apparently it's exceptionally hard to crack, and you generally change the algorithm/channels it goes across very often.

Frequency hopping can be cracked.  Police and security domestically use that kind of security for their radio transmissions and you can find $200 scanners that crack it.  No doubt the military version is much more capable but I doubt that breaking it is beyond the capacity of Chinese or Russian engineers.

The chinese or russians are going to employ engineers to crack the radio code of an infantry squad and cross link it with the call sign revealed by an NCO on an internet forum to what end?

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

Why?  They provide you neat weapons and people to shoot them at.
