Inis proved to be a success at 3.

I really like this game.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Rally The Troops seems to really have some traction at the moment. The PoG implementation is still amazing, but they've recently added Imperial Struggle as well (and 13 Minutes, which isn't really my thing). Very cool stuff and pretty addictive.

I've only played Maria on Rally the Troops, but it's a fantastic implementation.

I've been getting a lot of plays of POG, Maria, Wir Sind das Volk/2+2, and now Imperial Struggle in on there too. Let me know if you ever want a game, Bogh! Or just send an invite--same name there.

Cool. Will do, but I fear I'll get my behind handed to me!

Maladict

Is it live? I can't imagine playing Maria otherwise.

Habbaku

It's asynchronous. You can play live, but it's dual-functional. I've played a few Maria through it and it's fine if you don't mind doing a battle a bit more slowly.

Interesting, thanks. I'll have a look.

It's on backorder, but should arrive "soon"(TM)

As punishment for lack of impulse control you must post a full review here. :P

Well, I've had it for a bit, but haven't gotten beyond reading the rules yet. The box (about 10 or 11kg) comes with decent amount of content built for longevity - not miniatures, but all figures are represented by heavy poker chips with detailed prints on them, a lot of cheat sheet/materials are printed on PVC instead of paper, game boards and tiles are made from neoprene (or mouse mat materials) etc. Rules are ring bound (less creasing :P ) on sturdy paper etc.

Gameplay based on rules is that you pick one of the regions (based on Elder Scrolls Online regions). Then you pick guild quest and can do small side quests. Pretty much all of which requires you to go to a place to kill a lot of things and find new loot. Each guild quest is a "chapter", after which you go after the region's end boss. It's meant to be played in 3 sessions of ca. 3 hours. It doesn't seem to have much intended continuity (i.e. carrying on from zone to zone), so not sure how I feel about it.

If you compare with the Skyrim boardgame (or at least the rules for it), then I think Skyrim actually is more what I was looking for. That said, Betrayal of the Second Era is great for single sessions that you can string together when you feel like a fairly quick/short game. And besides, it comes with little boxes where you can "save" your game by preserving your trackers etc :P

I enjoyed Outer Rim with expansion a lot more. I tried using the bot rules, but I think I enjoy just playing several PCs myself more interesting. The setup is a bit of a hassle. However, Tabletop Simulator has a very good setup for the game that automates much of the tedious stuff.
