Pedrito

Yesterday we had to put my old cat to sleep.  :(

She was my cat when I lived with my parents, and when I left home my dad wanted the cat to stay with him.

She was nineteen years old, and lived the good life of an apartment cat, although almost every evening she climbed on the roofs and went visiting our neighbors (only after some time we discovered they were giving her some cat treat).
When she was not a year old she fell from a tree and broke her upper right fang. My father asked the vet if it was possible to make a replacement tooth made of silver. The vet said no.

In the end she was consumed by a tumor, when I brought her home to bury her she weighted only 1,5 kilos.

Dear cat, I will miss your purr and your morning "meowtf?".

Yeah, that Blue Buffalo is apparently good stuff.

Pretty cute and an interesting idea in getting families to then adopt said cat when little Timmy wants it.

QuoteAt Animal Rescue League of Berks County, children can read to shelter cats to soothe them. The cats adore them and are always delighted to have these little humans there to keep them company.

Children in grades 1-8 who are able to read at any level are welcome into the shelter to read to the cats at their adoption room. "The program will help children improve their reading skills while also helping the shelter animals. Cats find the rhythmic sound of a voice very comforting and soothing," the shelter wrote/

When I went to a shelter to adopt a kitten, it was pretty heartbreaking - so many kittens so desperately wanted attention, and I could realistically only take one.

Take solace in the fact that the kittens move fast.  It's the older adults and seniors that take forever to get placed.

Everybody and their grandmother will be willing to take home a kitten, but not as many people want the 6 year old cat that had to be surrendered because their owner got evicted, or the kids developed allergies.

I stepped on Gangsta's tail walking into the hallway tonight, and screamed like she was going into a sausage grinder.  Mom was close to tears, she was that upset when she saw a chunk of fur on the carpet.

Gangsta came out once I shook her Pounce treat jar, and I examined her; tail's fine, no damage.  Just missing some fur.
