Change usually sets off his issues, which may be enough for him to need a safe place to reset, i.e. the nuthouse. Just the fact that his parents aren't going to stay together could do it, much less all of the fallout that goes with it.

I'm really pretty concerned for him. I know he'll get through this okay, but the process isn't going to be easy for him. :(
