I've never seen a B+ that I liked.

Watching Return of the Jedi. It's like 30 minutes longer than it used to be. Also, I'm fairly sure the Emperor's death star windows are Fibonacci-spaced but I can't prove it.

Manhunter and Red Dragon are both based on the Red Dragon book, which is the precursor to Silence of the Lambs and is really where the characters and the setting of the TV show comes from. Hannibal was the sequel and less related to the TV show.

Thank you.

How I Met Your Mother finale. Didn't see that coming.

Shit, I missed it.  Did Barney die?

I know.  I've read all of them, except Hannibal Rising (and why would anyone bother? De Laurentiis forced Harris to write it, and I've never even seen the movie, along with most of the world).

If they seemed to initially favor the Red Dragon/Silence floorplan--FBI profiler enlists Hannibal Lecter to help them solve cases--this was already undermined by the fact that Lecter was free.  By the end of Season 1, Lecter was already actively working against Graham and getting into his own wacky adventures.  In this regard, what other comparison is there but to the book Hannibal--the novel where Lecter was free to roam and kill and conspire?  The only difference is that only one person is trying to catch him in the show.  (So far.)

I do wonder if Season 3 will be a recapitulation of Red Dragon and/or Silence, or if they'll go in a radical direction.  Either way, the status quo can't be sustained for too long. :hmm:

Not so sure it will get a 3rd season.

Fuller has stated that Season 1 is a reimagining of Dragon, 2 of Silence and 3 of Hannibal.  I presume that Hannibal is on the run in 3, caught maybe half-way through.

It is super cheap to make and I think Amazon Prime has already suggested that they would pick it up if NBC didn't.  I think the numbers are up, too.

Fair point, but a pity if so.

:)

Is it that cheap?  It always looks great, with superior production design and gore creations easily worthy of any film.  Kudos if so.  Then again,  I guess cages and motel rooms aren't that expensive, otherwise half of porn couldn't exist.

Fair enough.  Though it's a pretty thorough reimagining.

WTF are you talking about Spellus???

Bryan Fuller quote from last summer.
QuoteWell, when you get into Season Four, you get into the literature. And so Season Four would be RED DRAGON, Season Five would be the SILENCE OF THE LAMBS era, Season Six would be the HANNIBAL era, and then Season Seven would be a resolve to the ending of that book.
