Quote from: Admiral Yi on Today at 04:17:23 AMIn Trumbo it 's John Wayne who sticks up for the blacklisted writer.

He ruined the lives of many others. The writer of High Noon comes to mind.

He was a POS that would sadly fit perfectly in the current era.

I've only learned from a random Reddit thread I stumbled upon, that I am eligible for Barclays Premium which shall give me free Apple TV+. Nice. Switched over in Barclays, waiting for some info on the Apple TV thing.

Duque de Bragança

The Running Man

The US, in 2019 the near future.

Closer to the book this time, so no plagiarism of Le Prix du Danger a.k.a The Prize of Danger, adapted from Sheckley's short story.
Might be one of those rare cases where a remake bring something new.
CGI action is a bit too conspicuous for my taste, made worse in the trailer (go figure), and some will prefer Schwarzenegger as the protagonist. Speaking of which, he has quite an original "cameo".  :P

There are many beloved celebrities from the past who I am very glad never had access to social media.

I read that Trumbo wrote a book defending the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and turned people in to the FBI who tried to buy his anti-war book during the war.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Wait...what are you saying here? He wrote the book as a sting to find anti-war people?

No, he was like the rest of the communists of that time.  Against WW2 when Germany was allied with the Soviets, pro-war when they weren't.
