I'm watching a little Shaving Ryan's Privates on Netflix, and I noticed the audience warning mentions graphic, prolonged violence, but not the smoking.  ^_^

I remember when you showed me a map, asking where I lived on it and I pointed way out of the map

About 150km South-east of Quebec city.  There's a marina in another village, 20 min (west) from where I live.  Actually, there's a dock closer than that, but I don't think it's open for private boats, it is used by small cruise ships to visit nearby uninhabited islands.

That's gotta be a few days travel from Rochester by sail :)

That would be a pretty epic sailing trip.

I feel like Berkie might need a bigger motor to make it  back up the St Lawrence on his way back, what with going against both the current and prevailing winds...

Bah.  Our ancestors did it by paddling upstream up to the Great Lakes :P

yeah, it's pretty unrealistic, I mostly meant it as a joke.

A more realistic solution for him would be to visit Montreal, less travel down the St-Lawrence by boat.

Nobody. Written by the same guy who did John wick, I believe. You get to see a  doc brown like you've never seen him before. Good film.

Watching "Five Came Back", a Netflix documentary about five big name Hollywood directors who sign up with the US armed forces to make propaganda films during WW2, with commentary by big name modern directors like Spielberg and Del Toro. Seen the first of three episodes, and it's pretty interesting so far - I would have thought right up the alley for many Languishites.

Interestingly, they also have a reference set of the actual films that were shot, which you can also see. I watched the one about the Nazi slave and death camps, and what struck me was how it was introduced - with a pair of legal affidavits certifying that the images recorded were real and not faked (it was clearly a more credulous time, nowadays having an affidavit like that would just make everyone think even more that it was faked). Evidently, the death camps were so disturbingly weird that the government film makers felt that they may not be credited as real.

Yeah, rivers are not really good sailing. You are so limited in your direction of travel, depth, wind, and current.

Army of the Dead trailer looks fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI1JGPhYBS8

Heard it described as a zombie movie with Fallout New Vegas and Ocean's Eleven vibes.

The Larch

I must admit that I never imagined zombie movies and heist movies to be able to cross-genre like that.

Seems like a fun idea, Snyder though?

Agree.  Snyder is going to jump the shark with this one, too.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.
