Luanne too. Plus there's the whole Apu/Kahn situation. Minh and Connie are voiced by an Asian actress, but not the right kind of Asian so I don't know the rules there. The 90s/early 2000s were a simpler time

Continuing the theme of sequels to old things, here Happy Gilmore. Actually looks like it might be good... if you enjoyed the original anyway.

The original was about the only Adam Sandler movie I enjoyed. I don't think I need a sequel, though.

I have a soft spot for Billy Madison too

Little Nicky and Zohan are two movies I feel really bad about finding them so funny

Punch Drunk Love is really good though.

Admiral Yi

Zohan has a lot of good gags and a hottie.

Punch Drunk Love and Click were decent.
PDH!

The Last Of Us, S2. Much poorer writing than S1. I assume that S1 was based on the game, and now they're freestyling?

Got around to watching 'Game of Thrones' S6,7 and 8; a curate's egg. :hmm:

According to my friend (I didn't play the game), the issue seems to be they stuck too close to the game  :P

Thought the show was trying to be too clever and a half with the big twist of the season, and it dragged the story down.

Josquius

S1 followed the first game.
S2 follows the second game. I haven't seen the final episode yet but I suspect they've just covered the first half of it.
I only played the first game.

I am enjoying s2. Though it is very obvious watching it when they transition to new levels. Suddenly running into a forest, crawling through a tunnel whilst stuff loads in the background, etc..

Alex Garland is going to make an Elden Ring movie. Not entirely sure how that will work, considering how a lot of the game's lore and story is obtuse, told through item descriptions, and NPCs often vague and cryptic - in most From Software games (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring) much of the story/narrative is left for the player to decipher or infer (or, for many players: ignore), or build their own headcanon.

On top of that, Elden Ring is a non-linear open world game. And there's a storyline that involves the ingestion of "Shabriri Grapes" (shriveled eyeballs). Not to mention some of the more ... "out there" characters and monsters ....

Like the Wormfaces:

The Grafted Scions (they graft limbs onto themselves):

The Godskin Nobles (wearing, well, skins):

The cosmic entity "The Two Fingers":

Or Godserpent Rykard:

From whom you can loot this sword:

And those are not even the weirdest/worst

QuoteAlex Garland Eyeing Reunion With 'Warfare' Actor Kit Connor For His 'Elden Ring' Adaptation At A24 & Bandai Namco Entertainment – The Dish

The highly-anticipated Elden Ring movie at A24 and video game company Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.is gaining momentum as director Alex Garland may be zeroing on a familiar face to lead the epic adaptation. While it is unknown where things stand in negotiations or if a formal offer has been offered, sources tell Deadline the director has talks with Kit Connor, who recently appeared in his war pic Warfare, to star in the adaptation. Sources stress several factors still need to be worked out including scheduling but both Garland and Connor want this to happen.

A24 had no comment.

As reported last week, Garland is writing an directing the pic with Peter Rice is set to produce alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, as well as George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis.

Released to critical acclaim in February 2022, Elden Ring is an action RPG set in an authentic dark fantasy world, which allows players to head off on adventures within vast environments and dungeons. Created under the guidance of FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game is based on a story written by Martin, author of the fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which served as the basis for HBO's Game of Thrones.

Over 30 million units have shipped worldwide over the last few years. An Elden Ring spin-off, Elden Ring Nightreign, is slated for release worldwide on Friday, May 30.

Over the years, Garland is one of the stronger partnerships the studio has with any director with four of his five films bowing at the studio. The project is expected to be one of A24's largest productions to date but given Garland's track record with the studio having most recently directed the war pic Warfare, the studio is very high on this upcoming venture.

If a deal does close, this would mark a major victory for Connor as this project is expected to draw plenty of talent given everyone involved in it. Connor's star has been on the rise since his breakout role in the Netflix series Heartstopper. He was most recently seen in Garland's Warfare, which featured other rising stars such as Charles Melton, Jospeh Quinn and Will Poulter and can be seen next in the Netflix pic A Cuban Girl's Guide To Tea and Tomorrow. He is repped by Independent Talent Group and WME.

GRR Martin wrote the background lore for the game, but From Software then used it as basis for their game. I'm not sure how much influence he actually had on the design/story in game. Also, much of his lore is probably buried under From Software's usual obfuscation. :P

Mission Impossible was a bit of a disappointment. The plot is a jumbled mess, even for the saga's standards, and the action scenes are huge and spectacular but at the same time they lack the cleverness of the set pieces in prior entries. They all feel like action scenes you could find in any action blockbuster*.

*If we still had action blockbusters that weren't superhero movies, that is. I guess there's the oldschool throwback aspect to it.
